OT, but the expression “multiple surgeries” always sounds like something an uneducated person would say.

I realize it has become accepted vernacular, like using the phrase “begging the question” to mean “to ask a question that begs for an answer,” which is not at all its original meaning.

Not if the blood supply was buggered; and, required re-sectioned gut plumbing to take out piping going bad. Surgeons would also take a second look for missed bleeds, clot blockage, or origins of sepsis.
