Google Recalls Staff to US After Trump Immigration Order
Newsmax ^ | 28 Jan 2017

Alphabet Inc.’s Google delivered a sharp message to staff traveling overseas who may be impacted by a new executive order on immigration from President Donald Trump: Get back to the U.S. now.

Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai slammed Trump’s move in a note to employees Friday, telling them that more than 100 company staff are affected by the order.

"It’s painful to see the personal cost of this executive order on our colleagues," Pichai wrote in the memo, a copy of which was obtained by Bloomberg News. "We’ve always made our view on immigration issues known publicly and will continue to do so."

The comments underscore a growing rift between the Trump administration and several large U.S. technology companies, which include many immigrants in their ranks and have lobbied for fewer immigration restrictions. Pichai’s note echoed similar statements from tech peers voicing concerns about the harm such policies could have on their businesses.

Trump signed an executive order Friday prohibiting entry by people from seven majority-Muslim nations for 90 days. Citizens of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen and Libya would be banned from entering the U.S. for the period, while the government determines what information it needs to safely admit visitors.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a directive on Friday afternoon ordering the Customs and Border Control agency to enforce the order, the New York Daily News reported. Late Friday, some green card and visa holders were already being blocked from boarding flights to the U.S., the newspaper said.

Suck it up, buttercups. Your god, Obama, said it, “Elections have consequences.” The world lasted millennia without Google, and would endure without it.

Google has been proven to be involved in these conflicts.

Remember the google executive that helped overthrow the Egyptian government on behalf of the muslim brotherhood? He was using social media to bring it together.

Remember google being exposed for their involvement in Syria?

I am perfectly fine with google employees being banned from all foreign travel. They’re extremist liberal trouble-makers.

An observation. “Recalling staff who may be traveling overseas” used in conjunction with “bringing in talent.” are two separate things. Which is it Google?

One presupposes they had been here already and the other indicates they have not (and subject to the much needed ban.)

Frankly, I want nothing to do with Google. I don’t use it knowingly and I have done extensive deletes on my computer that have anything to do with “google” or any variation thereof. ESPECIALLY Chrome.

Is Google saying we don’t have great talent? Why not focus on improving the people we have here? Is Google doing much to help those in poor USA communities develop their talents? I don’t think so.

First of all, what about the “personal” costs to Americans?

I doubt illegal aliens who actually have a job working in high tech jobs are the ones who want to cut off our heads.

Hear here!

IMHO, any right thinking conservative/patriot using GOOGLE in any form is a hypocrite. Especially the ones calling for boycotts on leftist businesses all the while using GOOGLE...AND, BTW...Facebook.

Once again, thank you President Trump.

Remember that LOTS of technical corporations and those with IT staffs have been cruel to their US employees, actually making them train their *imported* H1-B replacements before firing them. And this has created a lot of “bad will” for decades now.

Importantly, H1-B visas only last for three years, with a possible extension for another three. So if President Trump also reforms the visa program, a lot of these greedy, cruel companies will have no choice but to hire Americans.
