President Donald Trump signed a record number of executive orders in his first week in office. Many of those orders have the President’s political opponents bracing for battle. “We have our work cut out for us,” said Congressman Lloyd Doggett. The Austin Democrat says he will work to stop policies that could hurt Texans. “I see my role as being part of the loyal opposition,” Doggett added.

Calling any DemocRAT “Loyal Opposition” is a bastardization of the phrase Loyal Opposition.

With Democrats in the minority in Washington, some believe there is little chance to stop President Trump’s orders. Doggett remains optimistic. “I think that this is no time for despair; it is time for democracy,” he said. “In the House, it’s a matter of respectfully presenting alternative view points, alternative plans,” Doggett continued. “That’s part of a loyal opposition.” …

There’s that word “alternative” again. Never mind “democracy”; we are a republic. And speaking of democracy per se, Woodrow Wilson had some very interesting notions on the subject:

“… [I]t is very clear that in fundamental theory, socialism and democracy are almost, if not quite, one and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members. Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals. Limits of wisdom and convenience to the public control there may be: limits of principle there are, upon strict analysis, none. …”

So whenever a Dem talks about democracy, he/she is talking about socialism. The community is supreme and the individual be damned. This is of course obvious to those on the right who defend the Constitution against such enemies.

Think that falls under "be careful what you wish for", concerning the sort of constituents to be found in the area he represents, someone worse could be elected. Probably will be after he finally leaves office.
