Senate Democrats have succeeded in delaying for one day a scheduled committee vote on President Donald Trump’s nomination of Steven Mnuchin to be treasury secretary.

The Senate Finance Committee said Monday that the meeting to vote on the nomination, which had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, will now take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Democrats said they requested the delay to allow lawmakers to attend a candlelight vigil protesting Trump’s travel ban aimed at seven Muslim-majority countries.

Mnuchin clashed with Democrats during a lengthy confirmation hearing on Jan. 19. He was accused of failing to protect thousands of homeowners from unnecessary foreclosures when he headed OneWest bank and for failing to disclose nearly $100 million in assets on forms he filed with the committee. …

Should have held it anyway... I would think a vote would be more important than a token, ineffectual protest.

So they’re attending a candlelight vigil for what?....their grief that we will no longer indiscriminately admit potential terrorists to the U.S.? What utter fools.

Damn straight they should have.

“candlelight vigil” - this crap has got to stop. It’s sedition for law makers, former candidates for president, and former presidents to be encouraging mobs.

This could easily be a gift from God. Mnuchin is way too problematical and somebody is in way too much of a hurry here. The guy's position on the critical Glass/Steagall law is wrong and his arguments on the subject are ill founded; his connection to George Soros is too complex and goes back too far; and his conduct of the affairs of what amounted to a vulture capital firm create too many questions. This guy should not be confirmed.

I agree. I am concerned about him. He failed to disclose 100 million dollars on his forms? Wow, not good.

I wish the GOP would have had the same kind of balls for the last 8 years, that the Dems are showing against Trump. The Dems got nothin’, yet they act like they own the place.

The GOPe are still a bunch of wusses.

The vote should have been held.

The Dems could decide whether they wanted to vote or to attend the vigil.

Why does the GOP put up with this nonsense?
