Neil Gorsuch, the Nominee for a Stolen Seat
NYT ^

Posted on 01/31/2017 8:34:31 PM PST by MNDude

It’s been almost a year since Senate Republicans took an empty Supreme Court seat hostage, discarding a constitutional duty that both parties have honored throughout American history and hobbling an entire branch of government for partisan gain.

President Trump had a great opportunity to repair some of that damage by nominating a moderate candidate for the vacancy, which was created when Justice Antonin Scalia died last February. Instead, he chose Neil Gorsuch, a very conservative judge from the federal Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit whose jurisprudence and writing style are often compared to those of Justice Scalia.

If Judge Gorsuch is confirmed, the court will once again have a majority of justices appointed by Republican presidents, as it has for nearly half a century. For starters, that spells big trouble for public-sector labor unions, environmental regulations and women’s access to contraception. If Trump gets the chance to name another justice, the consequences could be much more dire.

In normal times, Judge Gorsuch — a widely respected and, at 49, relatively young judge with a reliably conservative voting record — would be an obvious choice for a Republican president.

It was attempted theft.

They assassinated Scalia to protect their union money from public employees, and tried to fill his seat with a shill. .

I thought it was all handled very casually but was there any serious evidence of it being an unnatural passing ?

I think that entered my head, also. But it was not a loss. It gave Judge Bork the freedom to write down his thoughts clearly for posterity in "The Tempting of America" and "Slouching Towards Gomorrah." I have read both, and were my children teenagers, I would require a book report with oral examination on each of these from them.

However, Bork was no friend of NRA Second Amendment theorists, which Scalia (who preceded him in nomination by Reagan to the Court) most certainly was.

I made the same observation. The formula of the Times seems to be, in a single sentence: The truth, the truth, and a boldfaced lie.

Yep, and they thought with the combination of vote fraud and amnesty, they could steal all the important elections going forward too. They were looking forward to having all 3 branches in a death grip for the foreseeable future, able to finally go full Marxist without worry about those unreliable voters or that pesky Constitution...

Ginsberg is probably on her way out, she has looked like a walking corpse for over a decade now. She should have retired when Obama was in office but she thought she could retire at the beginning of a Hillary presidency, to let the FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT nominate her WOMAN successor.

So sad that she miscalculated!

Yep.

They keep on acting like abortion is contraception and the only thing available.

Contraception is available in most grocery stores for a few bucks a box.

You can buy a box of "organic" contraception along with your organic milk and free range eggs.

To the left a moderate would be someone like Sotomayer or Kagan or maybe Ginsberg. Anyone to the right of them would radical right wingers.

...”They assassinated Scalia to protect their union money from public employees, and tried to fill his seat with a shill.”...

Lots of people believe Scalia was murdered because his was the most strange and nothing murder investigation anyone has ever heard of. I knew the elite left had nearly destroyed the US but I had no idea they were so organized. It is almost like they knew the day would come when the citizenry would wake up, see the developing tyranny, and rebel against it.

I must admit that I am impressed by the number of comments on their site that remind readers that Biden’s 1992 rule was used in 92, in the last year of Bush 43’s term, and again last year. Apparently Senate Democrats only want Republicans to follow the rules.

...”Elections have consequences.”...

I can’t help but think of situation after situation in the Bible where God confused the enemies of Israel so that they could not destroy Israel. As I watch this scenario play out with microphones that don’t work and the day after day insanity coming from the media and the left in Congress, which is so demented that even a child can sense what is going on, I wonder whether some kind of supernatural “confusion” has been sent to the US to protect against the enemies of God’s people. Unbelievers will not understand this and think I am crazy. I assure you, I am not. I am simply a person with strong faith because I have seen miracles a few times in my life.

Got that right. Stolen when Scalia was murdered.

That sure backfired on those progressive bastards, didn't it?

I figured the country died along with Justice Scalia that night. Thank God the Republicans held firm this once.
