Al Qaeda was ready and waiting for the SEALs on Trump's first raid

The SEAL Team 6 raid in Yemen that resulted in the death of Chief Special Warfare Operator William "Ryan" Owens was declared a success by President Donald Trump, who praised Owens and his fellow commandos, three of whom were wounded, for "killing 14 [Qaeda] members" and "capturing important intelligence that will assist the US in preventing terrorism."

But as more details of the weekend covert counterterrorism operation emerge, it's evident that the mission didn't go according to plan.

US Central Command has now acknowledged that the raid resulted in civilian casualties, saying in a statement that an investigating team had "concluded regrettably that civilian noncombatants were likely killed" during the raid, which culminated in a nearly hourlong firefight. Central Command also conceded that children may have been among the dead.

Reports of civilian casualties first came from medics at the scene who claimed that 30 people, including 10 women and children, had been killed in the battle. Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis told reporters that both women and men were firing at US forces.

Three unnamed US military officials told Reuters that the battle, which one described as a "brutal firefight," resulted in the deaths of at least 15 Yemeni women and children, and that one of them was indeed the 8-year-old daughter of Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen who was the target of a US drone strike in 2011.

The girl's death, not yet confirmed by Central Command, was first announced by members of her family. "She was hit in the neck with a bullet and suffered for two hours," her grandfather, Nasser al-Awlaki, told Reuters.

Nasser al-Awlaki said in an interview with The Guardian that he believed his granddaughter's death was not intentional.

Do I feel bad about the death of their innocent?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t, because I don’t consider them innocent, they support jihad.
More than likely, this information was leaked to Al Qaeda by someone in Obama’s Pentagon. Obama’s commie ‘RATS will do anything to embarrass PRESIDENT Trump. I’d almost guarantee it.
ISIS kills a thousand civilians a month. 60k over 5 years.
If we could wipe out ISIS with collateral damage of under 60k the world would benefit. Unfortunately, this type of analysis is not allowable... not since we dropped the A bomb.
For the greater good only applies selectively.
Al-Awlaki’s children are just as eligible to be President as Ted Cruz.
How do you shoot children?
Easy! Just aim lower and don't lead 'em as much!
There are plenty of leftist politicians in DC who would gladly sacrifice a couple SEALS and a bunch of civilians for a successful negative news cycle against a political opponent.
Women and children always die in war. When our side kills women and children it is because it was unavoidable. When our enemy kill women and children, it is because they target them on purpose. If they didnt want their women and kids killed in war, then they shouldn’t have started a war. Most of the snowflakes protesting won’t recognize the threat and understand the solution until the power supply to their Facebook and Twitter is vaporized along with half a million Americans.
That was in Infantry training 101.
Yes some of them are stuck in the hell hole, but too many of these people are beyond sick.
But you have to admit that are a few people who are innocent.
I really think they have surpassed the Nazi’s as the most disgusting group of people that have ever existed .
Mr. Clark also has a similar role in True Faith and Allegiance.
Latest Clancy book. And the other guy
Is it any good, and does he portray Clark as well as Clancy did? I’ve never read any of the co-authored books, but for a while, up through about The Bear and The Dragon, I had read everything in the series that Ryan himself wrote.
Clark is my favourite character.
RE: Al-Awlaki’s children are just as eligible to be President as Ted Cruz.
With the exception of one thing — Judges in several states have looked at Ted Cruz’s case and declared him to be eligible.
Sean Spicer (WH spokesperson) said that it’s hard to call a mission where there is loss of life (of our side) a “complete” success. Hr had said that on two separate press release dates. I think that the statement is accurate, especially taken in the contexts of what he was explaining
