A group of Republican senior statesmen is pushing for a carbon tax to combat the effects of climate change, and hoping to sell their plan to the White House.

Former Secretary of State Jim Baker is leading the effort, which also includes former Secretary of State George Shultz. In an opinion piece published Tuesday night in The Wall Street Journal, they argued “there is mounting evidence of problems with the atmosphere that are growing too compelling to ignore.” […]

Carbon taxes are designed to raise the cost of fossil fuels to bring down consumption. Baker and Shultz detailed in the opinion piece their plan for a gradually increasing carbon tax, with dividends being returned to people, as well as border adjustments for the carbon content of exports and imports and the rollback of regulations. …

Agree -— the RINO establishment is nearly the equal to the ‘RAT establishment in their desire to cripple America & Western Civilization.

THE UNIPARTY IS REAL.

Baker and Shultz had their 15 minutes.

They rode in on coattails and would have people believe they are now great wizards of science ready to slap a tax on humanity’s propensity to fart into the mesosphere.

Give me Bannon, give me Miller. give me Conway, Kushner, and yes, even Priebus, and let the geriatric demented old guard waller off into limbo land.

No.

No carbon tax. No extra costs for energy or productivity. No fussing over “climate change” until we can prove that (1) the alleged climate change will do more harm than good, (2) the alleged climate change is real, (3) the proposed fussing will change the outcome of whatever climate trajectory is alleged, and (4) that portion of climate change avoided by wrecking our economy is a bigger problem than the economic costs sustained to avoid such changes in climate.

These RINO’s are being paid well for their behavior. I hold the Republican Establishment in more contempt than I do the Democrats. They know better and know it will hurt Americans and the country and would rather put their bank accounts above looking out for the American people. Damn the GOPE to hell!

There is a reason why both Baker and Shultz are "former" officials.

The biggest reason is that they are more than 190 years old combined. Global warming might be the only thing that keeps these two fossils at a normal human body temperature these days.

“Former” is the word that tells you how irrelevant they are.

The globalists never met a tax that they didn't like.

Their goal is to bleed the middle class to death, extract all of their wealth and transfer it to themselves, all while ensuring a permanent class of serfs and knocking down any potential competition to their fiefdoms.

Prima facie stupid.

Even if a carbon tax was slightly reasonable, you’d have to have regulations in order to know what/how specifically to tax. So you’d have a zero-sum gain in regs.

Oh look, Romney isn’t the only jerkoff backing this economy raping insanity. Jim Baker and Hank Paulsen head up this parade of clowns. Baker needs to put in a home and Paulsen should appointed as Ambassador to the South Pole.
