The Republican-led Senate worked nonstop Wednesday toward a confirmation vote on Sen. Jeff Sessions, President Donald Trumps pick for attorney general, who faced a firestorm of Democratic criticism over his record on civil rights and other issues.
Democrats contended Sessions is too close to Trump, too harsh on immigrants, and weak on civil rights. They asserted he wouldnt do enough to protect voting rights of minorities, protections for gay people, the right of women to procure abortions, and immigrants in the country illegally to receive due process.
Still, the Alabama Republican was expected to prevail on a near party-line evening vote.
There is simply nothing in Senator Sessions testimony before the Judiciary Committee that gives me confidence that he would be willing to stand up to the president, said Sen. Pat Leahy, D-Vt. He has instead demonstrated only blind allegiance.

Excellent. WE leave him in the Senate long enough to ensure Betsy DeVos’s confirmation, then get him confirmed as AG. Making liberal heads explode.
Once Sessions is confirmed recess is over for the `rats and their little thugs.
immigrants in the country illegally
************************************
If they are in the country illegally, they are not immigrants.
Immigrants are people who applied in their home country, paid their fees, waited their turn, learned the language and complied with the laws.
Illegal aliens are foreign nationals who did none of these things and broke in.
The VAGOP will be using that frustration to foist another amnesty-loving RINO on us.
This from a man who never removed his nose from 0bama's backside.
I’m sure they will, bunch of you-know-whats.
Got that right.
Last time I checked the Dems LOST the election, so why is AP so worried about what the Dems feel.....no don’t answer, I know...AP is just a shill for the Dems.
Leahy knows all too much about ‘blind allegiance”!!!
