Asset forfeiture before being tried and found guilty is a box that should never have been opened. It has ruined more than its share of innocent people.

I agree that due process is a primary requirement. But I think drugs or weapons, vehicles, jewelry and even properties can be held as evidence, logged and returned if charges are not proven.
It just seems to me that ill gotten gains should not be passed on as and estate. Maybe I'm wrong.
