It is one thing to support your guy, even laudable to support the office of the President of the United States, but it is quite another thing to be absurd about it.

If in fact it was such a "good thing" why did not trump fire Flynn when he learned from the attorney general that Flynn was lying? It is a good thing now would it not have been a much better thing then?

If it fact it was such a good thing, why did not the president of the United States fire Flynn when he went on television on January 15 and repeated the lie to the American people? Better now than then?

If fact it was such a good thing, why did Kelly Ann Conway go on national television and say that Flynn had the full confidence of the president of the United States only hours before he was forced to resign by the president of the United States? If it is such a good thing, why all the drama and missteps?

If in fact it was such a good thing, why did the president force Flynn to resign only after the whole matter was being leaked to the Washington Post?

This is not a good thing in any respect. If the president had acted immediately his administration was informed of Flynn's omissions, perhaps if Flynn had immediately come clean and then been "taken to the woodshed" like President Reagan did, the matter might have been handled short of this fiasco which is being reported world wide.

This provides no platform to pursue corruption against Democrats as some have alleged on this thread, to the contrary it makes us look like hypocrites. Yes, corruption against Democrats must and can be pursued but let us not deceive ourselves in the process, we have just surrendered a wee bit of the high ground.

This is a public-relations blow that was mishandled from the beginning and made all the more damning because the president knew (or must be held to have known that which is known to his subordinates) for some time that Flynn lied. The job of the national security advisor is to funnel all the information from myriad national defense sources to the attention of the president and The National Security Advisor can only function if he has the confidence on the one hand of the president and on the other hand of those clamoring for the finite attention of the president. A liar in that position is untenable because he can be trusted by neither side about matters which go to the very survival of the nation.

That the president left this man in this position hoping that the matter would blow over and only acted when it became clear that Flynn was being outed in the Washington Post, leaves the administration open to all the charges which the left and the intelligence apparatus are eager to bring against it.

It makes it more difficult to make policy concerning Russia, which in my view as expressed in a vanity some time ago is key to American security.

This is not good, spin all you will.

No, it is NOT a good thing for Trump and it doesn’t speak well of him at all. Mike Flynn was one of Trump’s earliest and most fervent supporters and he was shit-canned for farting in church. Flynn didn’t resign; he was fired and “allowed” to resign - almost certainly at Pence’s (the politician) insistence.

So DOJ “warned” Trump that Flynn had an improper relationship with Russia? Just how the hell would DOJ know, especially after even the Washington Post reported that the FBI reviewed Flynn’s calls with Sergi Kislyak and found nothing improper? (There’s no doubt that NSA provided the transcript of the conversation with Kislyak to the Bureau, which is part of the IC, and probably did so with Flynn’s permission.) Think anything will happen to Soros and his pet Obama for funding and coordinating all of the seditious activity since the election? Not hardly. The reality is that the media inflicts a double standard, covering for Democrats and crucifying Republicans. We can decry that injustice but when we actually get power, we have to cope with it.
