A group that called for Wegmans shoppers to boycott Trump-branded wine probably won't be happy to hear that instead, bottles from Trump Winery are flying off the shelves in Virginia stores.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the wine has sold out at two Richmond-area Wegmans stores, and the eight other locations in Virginia have also sold out of all or some varieties of the Trump Winery wines they carry.
Jo Natale, vice president of media relations for Wegmans, told the Times-Dispatch that the ten Virginia Wegmans had plenty of Trump wine in stock before the calls to boycott, and sales have soared since then.
"How a product performs is our single measure for what stays on our shelves and what goes," Natale said. (Wegmans refused to bow to the pressure to take Trump wine of its shelves.) "Individual shoppers who feel strongly about an issue can demonstrate their convictions by refusing to buy a product. When enough people do the same, and sales of a product drop precipitously, we stop selling that product in favor of one thats in greater demand.
So far it appears just the opposite is happening with Trump wine.
The Trump Winery in Virginia is seeking 23 workers from overseas to plant and harvest grapes there this spring, BuzzFeed reported Thursday. The Department of Labor published a request from the winery, which is also known as Trump Vineyard Estates LLC, earlier that day. Thursday's posting says potential workers will earn $11.27 hourly working at the 1,300-acre estate from April 3 to as late as Oct. 27. ..... < snip > ..... BuzzFeed added that companies owned by President Trump or bearing his name have sought to hire at least 286 foreign workers since he launched his White House run in June 2015. Many laborers now work as servers and housecleaners at Mar-a-Lago, the report said, Trump's luxury resort in Palm Beach, Fla. ..... < snip > A Virginia winery owned by President Trump's son Eric has requested permission to bring in nearly two dozen foreign workers, according to a new report.
This is structured as part of the H-2A visa program for temporary / seasonal agricultural employment of foreign workers.
It’s overpriced IMO. VA Wines are all overpriced but I’ll but this one just to spite the democrats.
for my taste, you can get a descent bottle of French, New World (Chile, Australia, Argentina) or a descent Cali for $10 and this is about $20..
What I do like is that it tastes like Hillary tears..
