The father of a Navy Seal killed in a raid in Yemen last month has demanded an investigation into the planning and timing of what he called a “stupid mission”.
Bill Owens also told the Miami Herald he refused to meet Donald Trump when he and the president went to Dover air force base in Delaware to receive the casket carrying his son, William “Ryan” Owens.
“My conscience wouldn’t let me talk to him,” he said.
The younger Owens was the only US fatality in the 29 January raid on a suspected al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula compound. Three US personnel were injured and the Pentagon said 14 militants were killed. One US aircraft was destroyed after being damaged on landing.

Of course he wouldn’t have had to worry about meeting President Obama because Obama wouldn’t have been there! (and I’m sure he would’ve loved to shake Obama’s hand)
Sorry - It’d be one thing if Trump had started the war or initiated an action in a non-hostile country.
But as a military man he should’ve understood that WE ARE AT WAR.

ummm, i think if i had questions i would have taken advantage of the opportunity to speak with the president, at least to ask for same. so pretty stupid to turn that down. i feel for him in his grief - but i smell a ‘rat.

While the idea of the bumbling neophyte president carelessly ordering a doomed military raid over appetizers may jibe with many people’s preexisting fears about Trump, the bottom line is that if the operations plan for the raid was really that flawed, then the blame for the Yemen raid lies primarily at the feet of the nation’s military planners, not the new commander in chief.
Trump didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to launch a random raid in Yemen.
Presidents do not plan individual military operations. That is what the military is for. What presidents do is authorize or reject the plans that are presented to them by military planners.
Obama planned the mission; Trump approved it’s execution. The mission was leaked and tipped off the enemy. I’d look at McCain first as the leaker.

I feel for the brave Seal who made the ultimate sacrifice. He is a hero but his father is a scumbag for dancing on his grave to score political points. Cindy Sheehan has found a soulmate. They both can rot in hell. They would never say a word if Obama was in office.
But that doesn't mean the military should be reduced to paralysis in decision making. There were merits for this mission. Unfortunately, the enemy can be equally as crafty.
What a low life. I don’t remember the families of Torpedo 8 acting that way. Get a backbone and show some class.
The father of the Navy SEAL needs to ‘talk’ to Senator John McCain. In a locked room. With a baseball bat.
I wouldn’t doubt for a minute that it was McCain who ‘leaked.’
