You know, many Kurds are muslims.
Some are Shia and some are Sunni and they have allegiances to their sects as well as their various and sundry tribes.

Yes, some are. They are not uniform, it depends on the country they are in and the community. Northern Syrian Kurds vary quite a lot. The Shia/Sunni divide is largely between Iraq & Iran. The N. Syrian Kurds are more secular, there are a number of religions held by various Kurds.

I know some of them pretty well. Have had frequent conversations over past 2-1/2 years. They are not strangers any longer.
