Wonder if this has anything to do with the recent decision to relocate the corporate HQ...

My dad retired from CAT many years ago, but he worked in R&D.
It will be interesting to see what this is all about.

Company officials confirmed the presence in a statement without specifying which agency was performing the search or what the search was in regard to. A spokeswoman declined by email to provide further details. The national news soap opera continues.
Another non-news story until details can be given.
This type of reporting can only lead to wild speculation. -Tom

A placard in the window of one of the federal vehicles noted it was used by police from the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security Office of Export Enforcement.
Since news of the search warrants broke, Caterpillar stock fell more than $3.50 from an opening-bell price of $98.36 per share and continued to trend lower throughout the morning.

"WHERE ARE THE FINANCIAL RECORDS FROM SOLYNDRA THAT THE FBI CONFISCATED, THE DAY AFTER THEY ANNOUNCED BANKRUPTCY?" That's just hateful right-wing conspiracies. This sort of speech just goes to show the need for stronger hate-speech laws. (s)

The Russians must have hacked some of their front-loaders.

US Marshalls usually handle export law (ITAR) violations but this seems to be more than that.

Did someone from Caterpillar speak to someone in Russia?
To: blam
Most likely this is about doling out kickbacks to do business overseas.

Somebody blew the whistle because they don’t like the new managements move to Chicago.

Maybe they could swing by the Deere and Co offices in Moline and see if Deere still has that bottom copy that got a secretary there in 1980 fired for making.
