BLM special agent is focus of investigations [ Dan Love ]

Dan Love, a controversial law-enforcement agent for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), is the subject of several investigations into his actions as special-agent-in-charge of BLM activities in Utah and Nevada.

Most recently, Congressman Jason Chaffetz alleges that Love may have destroyed files, withheld documents, and coached witnesses in order to avoid a Congressional investigation. Chaffetz asked the Department of Interior (DOI) Inspector General to investigate the allegations.

Love is also the focus of a DOI Inspector General report that states he used his position to gain perks at the annual Burning Man Festival in Nevada.

The report states that costs charged by the BLM to the organizers of the festival increased dramatically after Love was placed in charge of law enforcement at the event.

...

Love oversaw Operation Cerberus, the undercover operation that resulted in the June 2009 antiquities raids in Blanding. The raids were made by dozens of heavily armed federal agents amid allegations of an excessive show of force by the agency.

The massive and expensive raids resulted in just a handful of convictions in federal court, partially the result of suicides by an informant and several of the accused.

Love was the special agent in charge during the 2012 standoff at the Bundy Ranch in Mesquite, NV. The most recent investigations threaten to undermine the federal trials on the standoff, which are beginning this week.

In 2014, several law enforcement officials, including San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge, complained about Love’s tactics. The officials state Love’s actions and attitude are detrimental to the relationship between the federal agencies and local law enforcement.

Use the Holeman rule against that fascist POS.

“...allows an individual congressperson to propose an amendment to an appropriations bill that singles out an individual government employee or program...And the kicker, cutting these employees’ pay to $1, and effectively firing them, would have zero impact on public services.”

Saw ‘BLM’ in headlines and thought “what’s Black Lives Matter doing with a special agent.” On reading rest of thread decided my first guess wasn’t so far off, after all.

Years ago we had one of these “Wyatt Earp” types in our District. Tried to go “Head to Head” with our Sheriff.
He lost! The District Manager, a really nice guy, couldn’t control “Wyatt”. Both got into trouble.

Relations between local law enforcement and the Feds in the rural West have never been cheerful. And then the Feds assigned individuals into the field who have brought the thing nearly to a shooting war.

It’s time for these power abusers to be re-assigned where their social skills are a better fit. Like, Afghanistan, or the Sudan.

It’s really remarkable that a few of these weenies didn’t end up doing the big sleep out in the sagebrush.

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz is sick and tired of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) agents and Forest Service armed to the teeth. It’s dangerous, unnecessary and sends the wrong message.

“These agents are more Rambo .. So he wants to take away their guns and authority.

Chaffetz said he also wants to issue subpoenas to the “out of control” federal agencies to learn why they want to purchase submachine guns. He said he has had repeated meetings and sent letters to the BLM’s national director, Neil Kornze, with no satisfactory response to his questions.

“I want to know what kind of arsenal they have. I’m met with blank stares,” he said. “They’re wholly unresponsive. They don’t feel compelled to answer our letters.”

This man does not represent lawful, USA law. He is a traitor and an enemy of the USConstitution. Either you defend it or you destroy it.

You may change what it says lawfully, just amend it. Otherwise one must follow it. A contrary law, is not lawful. It is null and void; without merit. Enforcement of a contrary law is a violation of USAians right to _lawful_ republican, government.
