It has worked out in times past, but when politicians decided to encourage massive immigration, and I mean massive, then the standard of living for all of us has plummeted. A million and a half LEGAL immigrants per year and how long do they think the infrastructure will last before it completely buckles. Those many millions need health care and taxpayers will have to pay for it, so Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell think that Americans have to give up their health care so that all will have access — on paper.
1) REPEAL.
2) WAIT.
(Let the market take care ... There’s Medicaid anyhow.)

For example - a baseline - a person making $400 a week ($20,800 a year) would pay $100 for a doctor’s office visit. 400/4 = 50).
A US Senator like Ron Paul makes $174,000 annually or $3,346 a week. Divide that by 4 and Ron Paul would pay $836 for a doctor’s visit.
Trump make about $400,000 a week. To see a doctor he would pay $100,000.
This isn’t feasible but it gives perspective on how much middle America is paying for ‘healthcare’...

I don’t think you’d get even 50 votes for a bill most of us would view as “proper”.
4 GOP Senators already have come out and said they won’t support eliminating the Medicaid expansion, and that’s even with keeping the other stuff. It’s going to be a major fight to get even this through, if that is even possible.
This proposal actually does not surprise me at all. It is exactly the sort of splitting the difference I expected from Republicans. They’ve always done that.

This is not an immigration issue — it’s a demographic issue. The biggest challenge is not the recent immigrant ... it’s the American in the 50-65 age bracket who has expensive health care needs and isn’t old enough for Medicare.

It’s th stupid tax code that makes the employer part of the problem. If you work for me and I pay you $10,000 then we both pay our portion of the payroll taxes and you report $10,000 as taxable income on your tax return. If I pay you $0 but pay $10,000 for your medical insurance, then neither one of us pays any payroll taxes and you report $0 of taxable income on your tax return. That is stupid beyond belief.
I want to know if Trump had input into this or if this is all Ryan. Because Ryan is an idiot.
