“What does a recent immigrant on Medicaid have to do with skyrocketing premiums for private health insurance coverage?”

“A recent immigrant on Medicaid”?

You mean more like millions of immigrants. Well, since you evidently dense, I will describe it for you.

There are a limited number of taxpayer dollars for Medicaid, would you not agree? So, when the number of people receiving Medicaid is enlarged, then the dollars are soaked up rapidly. That is why the states went in big time for Medicaid expansion.

But government doesn’t pay full cost for Medicaid, just like Medicare. So the shortfall is taken care of by inflating cost for those who do pay. As in insurance premiums. That is why the new bill freezes Medicaid.

From my home I can walk less than a mile to the office campus for a major medical group in my state that refuses to take Medicaid patients. Their costs to people like me who use private insurance aren't much different than what my insurance carrier would pay at the hospital in the next town.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm suggesting that the number of Medicaid enrollees with exorbitant health care costs is much smaller than the enormous demographic group I described that has grown considerably in recent years.
