Saudi Arabia hailed a "historical turning point" in U.S.- Saudi relations after a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman highlighted the two leaders' shared view that Iran posed a regional security threat.

The meeting on Tuesday appeared to signal a meeting of the minds on many issues between Trump and Prince Mohammed, in a marked difference from Riyadh's often fraught relationship with the Obama administration, especially in the wake of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

"This meeting is considered a historical turning point in relations between both countries and which had passed through a period of divergence of views on many issues," a senior adviser to Prince Mohammed said in a statement.

"But the meeting today restored issues to their right path and form a big change in relations between both countries in political, military, security and economic issues," the adviser said....

But I was told that Mr. Obama was a consummate diplomat and the "adult" in the room.

Right. How will we ever get the ME to love and accept us without all of that bowing and scraping?

Well that’s great to know!!!

What do ya know? We’re gonna be pals!

Now I don’t have to give a fu.. about my two firemen friends who died, or any of the other 3000, or the Beautiful Towers I worked in being savagely destroyed.

That’s water under the mother ####ing bridge.

Let’s move on and be friends.

Even after a Saudi funded terror attack takes place again.

New boss the same as the old boss in this instance.

And A president from NYC. Heartbreaking.

Dude, I understand your point, but remember the Saudis DID play THE pivotal role making it possible for Reagan to break the back of the Soviet Union.

You don’t piss that away just because their dog takes a dump in your yard.

He’s the president of the United States, not the president
of Staten Island.

Maybe you read it more thoroughly than I did but I cannot find anything about being friends or pals with the Saudis in this article. Looks Trump did quite well.

Remember Dhimmi Carter and the Iranian hostage crisis?

And the IEDs in Iraq with components showing they were assembled by Iran?

The difference is, Saudi Arabia is a bunch of rich princes at the top, trying to hold in check a low-skill populace by buying them off with oil money; and IIRC, with several cities very important to Islam in their territory, which confers on them legitimacy.

They are trying to hold off militant Islam sects ("Wahabbi"-ism) from toppling them from power, by funding missionary efforts overseas. But it is not official government policy; and, the House of Saud remembers we saved them from Saddam Hussein.

Iran is likewise feeding militant Islamic sects, but officially, as government policy; and then there's the whole Sunni vs. Shia thing, which apparently sets Iran and the Saudis against each other, as long as there's nobody else more important to kill, like Jews, Christians, or Westerners.

I think Iran in its own way is trying to become the seat of new Caliphate; as is Turkey in its own way.

And A president from NYC. Heartbreaking.

NYC hates him. In 2016:

  1. Brooklyn: 595,086 Clinton to 133,653 Trump.
  2. Manhattan: 515,481 to 58,935.
  3. Queens: 473,289 to 138,550.
  4. Staten Island: 67,561 to 95,612. Ding Ding Ding : the Donald wins a borough!
  5. The Bronx: 318,403 to 34,424.

It's New Yawk values, dontcha know!

This is extremely different from both Bush 1&2 and Obama bowing and scraping and kissing Saudi rings

President Trump has made it clear they owe US money & allegiance for our protection......plus more

And they came here to let him know they got the message

Trump walks softly but carries a BIG STICK

Read it:
"But the meeting today restored issues to their right path and form a big change in relations between both countries in political, military, security and economic issues," the adviser said.

Saudi Arabia had viewed with unease the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama, whom they felt considered Riyadh's alliance with Washington less important than negotiating the Iran nuclear deal.

Riyadh and other Gulf allies see in Trump a strong president who will shore up Washington’s role as their main strategic partner and help contain Riyadh's adversary Iran in a region central to U.S. security and energy interests, regional analysts said.
