1st I had no idea Turkey had so many displaced from the war in Syria. And had a path to citizenship for them. I suspect most of them are Arab muslims. Some were Kurd Muslims who moved across the border for safety from ISIS.

But to threaten about aid given to Syrian Kurds to help house and feed the refugees (60-70,000) on the Syrian side of the border is Insane and inhuman.

But this behavior is what we have become accustomed to from Erdogan.

Very recently Turkey stopped a gift of flour by an American non-government organization destined for a bakery in N. Syria. The bakery was furnished by a Swiss company. I complained about that to my congressman who is sympathetic. As far as I can tell, that has not been resolved. It may have been kept in Turkey or simply brought back to source.

Both acts hurt the weakest in this battle. Both acts are spiteful acts against US support of Kurds and Arabs in Syria.

More refugees moving out of the ME is good for Caliph Erdogen.

Erdogan got into bed with Obama/Clinton and the Saudis on regime change in Syria, probably expecting their proxies would surely arrange a Sunni takeover, some profit-sharing for him on new oil pipelines, and some leverage to go after the Kurds.

Putin nixed that when he called Obama’s hand.

Now Erdogan realizes the power has shifted: Obama is gone, Trump is in power instead of Clinton, and won’t repeat their schemes, the Saudi’s Jihadi proxy ISIS is crumbling, and Assad will stay with the help of Russia.

So he wants out of the original deal.
