One of my friends was a manager in IT (COBOL shop) back in the 90’s and he said to me one day: I was watching a row of contractors working, and I saw the Americans, who are billed at $75 an hour, working next to Indians, who are billed at $17 an hour, both doing the same jobs with the same quality, except the Indians will work through lunch and are otherwise more “dedicated”. So why am I hiring American contractors?

His company went on to become one of the first large scale users of Indian IT workers. He even gave convention speeches on the do-s and dont’s of outsourcing labor.

I’m just really glad I’m past retirements age. I’m not retired, but I could technically do it at any time.

Screw your friend. Maybe COBOL was a fine place to put those Indians, but on average they are not innovative, not engineers, not good communicators, and NOT AMERICAN PATRIOTS. Your friend should have figured out a way to employ Americans, because he was obviously in a position to do so. Maybe he had the wrong Americans working for him. Who wanted to do COBOL even 20 years ago?
