"Many of the victims died at the hands of priests, clergymen and nuns, according to some accounts by survivors, and the Rwandan government says many died in the churches where they had sought refuge."

I'm not sure when the Catholic Church became a frequent apologizer for things not done in the name of the Church, but by its sinful representatives (priests and nuns), but I wonder if it really is a good thing to do?

If it makes some of the survivors/their families feel better and more at peace, then fine. But I just have to wonder whether it does...

Horse manure.

The Pope is a traitor to his people. More African Christians will be murdered by their Muslim neighbors, thanks to this dolt. He’s just giving them another excuse to do it.

This is simply dishonest reporting. “Some accounts by survivors” is simply lies told by some to confuse responsibility.

Many did seek refuge in churches. Some of the churches were entered by mobs armed with machetes and those seeking refuge were killed.

There are no credible accounts of priests and nuns in groups slaughtering thousands. This is just dishonest anti-Catholic propaganda.
