Plan B: Trump To Blame Ryan, Priebus If Vote Fails
zerohedge ^ | 3/24/17 | tyler durden

While the White House has been careful to exude an air of confidence ahead of this afternoon's critical for the Trump administration healthcare vote, it should come as no surprise that Trump is preparing a Plan B "just in case", and as expected, Bloomberg confirms that behind the scenes Trump is planning to blame Ryan in case of an embarrassing defeat this afternoon.

As reported last night, Trump’s senior strategist took the unusual step of traveling to Capitol Hill to deliver an ultimatum: take the vote on Friday, win or lose. Ryan had been carefully trying to build a majority for the bill, and it would be highly unusual for him to call the vote without knowing if it would pass.

"Ryan had little choice but go along with the administration’s gambit." And while Trump said Friday at the White House that Ryan shouldn’t lose his job if the bill goes down, when asked whether Trump, Ryan, or the Freedom Caucus chairman, North Carolina Republican Mark Meadows, would be most to blame if the bill fails, the administration official said Ryan.

Trump’s core supporters regarded Ryan as at best unimportant during the presidential campaign and at worst a poster child for the sort of establishment, scripted politician they loathed. Considering the planning that has gone into this scapegoating campaign, one almost wonders if it is not Trump's intention all along to lose the vote, in the process eliminating Ryan with whom he butted heads repeatedly before the election. As Bloomberg adds, "several Trump associates have already laid groundwork to blame the speaker."

These Repubs have made hay on this for a long time but now they can’t deliver. Obum-a-care will die on its own.

I certainly agree with your assessment.

The LSM is hyping the lack of action as a loss of the only chance to take action.

My plan B: send congress home. let them come back in December to pass another “Ryan Omnicrap Budget” and the other budget bills needed before we get the Omnicrap.

The other option is to make us listen to worthless promises on tax reform, budget, etc for the rest of the year and then end up with nothing but another Omnicrap budget.

If this doesn’t pass, Trump is on his own. And unfortunately he’s significantly limited without legislation so we can forget tax reform, immigration reform, a strong economy, etc. Different factions of Rs are no less divided on all the other major issues.

Maybe Trump can work with governors on dividing the country. If Rs can’t compromise with themselves on fixing Obamacare now, there’s no chance they avoid the other disasters coming our way. There’s too much distance between different groups/states even among Rs for compromise. At least give me a conservative state to move to rather than watch what’s coming as everyone digs in their heels and refuses to make fixes. As congress does nothing (or worse), the courts keep moving us left.

They only answer to their constituents — as it should be.

I thought Ryan came up with a convoluted story that he can’t do tax reform until healthcare is passed. He’s not interested in passing Trump’s agenda, just his own.

“Ryan’s plan all along was to pass this rearranging of Obamacare and hang it around Trump’s neck to make him a one term President.”

Very consistent with Ryan’s behavior from day 1 with regard to Trump.

The GOP sent clean repeal bills to Resident 0bama 50+ times. Why not send one to President Trump? Oh that’s right, because the GOP was full of it, knows Trump would sign, and doesn’t want to give up on the precedent of forced consumption. It’s all about growing state power over the serfs.

Plan B: Trump To Blame Ryan, Priebus If Vote Fails

____________________________________

Plan B? What about Plan A if the vote fails?

Oh wait. Trump is already using Plan A:

Blame Conservatives and the House Freedom Caucus.

Trump knows how to fight and win against vermin like Schumer and Pelosi. Ryan and his team does not.

100% repeal, then replace with an open insurance market.

First the Senate needs to do away with the “gentlemans filibuster” in which you can filibuster a bull by simply announcing it. Make them actually stand in the well and hold the floor for as long as they can. Then we need to send the Gorsuch nomination and a clean repeal or sunset down the pipe and let them actually filibuster if they don’t want to allow cloture. If they can stop these bills for 22 months we will then use their obstruction against them in the 2018 elections.

RE:”They only answer to their constituents — as it should be.”

What if Trump threatened to send the refugees to districts of Republicans who are holdouts? And they replace the doctors with them.

Would that work?

If Trump was dumb enough to pull that sh!t he’d have a bunch of Republicans joining the Democrats to impeach him. Has it occurred to you that the “holdouts” have damn good reasons not to vote for the bill?

How about if he ordered their district to have a certain % of transgendered doctors and nurses, I bet the thought of them doing prostate checks would bring them along.

“Cough please!”

Nah. Trump let Ryan hang himself. He could never have trusted the putz Ryan, but laid himself out there to exhibit he was doing his part to lift Ryan over the line.

Ryan failed to deal. So, the deal failed.

I think it might get pulled, possibly, and finished better than Ryan’s rag bill allowed, or else voted down, and something can emerge that is much simpler, like a stand alone “Repeal” of Obamacare which should pass with ease.
