The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee told a Thursday forum at the Washington-based watchdog Judicial Watch that starting April 1 his committee and staff will hold President Donald Trump and his administration accountable for producing requested documents. I would hope the new president would get more aggressive and demand that these departments and agencies provide the documents that Congress is seeking, said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who took over the committee at the start of the previous session of Congress. I dont think they are off to a good start.
Up until the end of March, the chairman said he indulged the Trump administrations need to settle in, he said.
The chairman was careful to note that regarding new requests the committee sent to the administration, the response has been prompt and cooperative, such as with inquiries into the Government Services Administration lease of the Old Post Office building to the Trump Organization, now operating the Trump International Hotel there. That was disposed of right on time.
Chaffetz said that all requests to the President Barack Obama administration are still active, and before the inauguration, he sent a letter to then-incoming White House Counsel Donald McGahn informing him that he expected the Trump administration to have a better record complying with congressional requests than Obamas. We expect these to be fulfilled.

Chaffetz is a complete phony, and if you cant see it you should either stop voting, or read more.
He is a never Trumper, a Pro TPPer and will convince conservative rube voters he is anything but what he really is - a progressive socialist.
These boys were sure hard on Obama about producing documents, weren’t they. Got to hold President Trump to the same standard.
Chaffetz is part of the swamp Trump needs to drain.
Maybe the Trump admin should just do what the Obama admin did for Congressional subpoenas. Ignore them. What exactly did the Repubs do when Obama did that?
Jason is a ‘never trumper’ from Utah...he is friends with Mike Lee, Mia Love, Romney, Hatch, Beck....he is out for a witch hunt with the Trump Administration...
He sees the chance to move to the other side of the Capitol Building with Hatch waffling on whether he will run again.
Chaffetz? A progressive socialist?
He was born Jewish then converted to Mormonism.....so his world view is all-encompassing.
Trump should tell Jason to go finish all his other “investigations” regarding democrats first. When he finishes that, then we will talk turkey.
Exactly...he should make him list each “investigation” into obummers crooked regime and the outcome. When Chaaetz fails to explain how incompetent he is, then Trump should tweet that out to his constituents. This is what is needed in DC...ACCOUNTABILITY!
What a load. Try confirming his appointments first. Too many hold overs because congress ain’t doing their job

If President Trump wants to primary someone in 2018 Chaffetz's district would be a great place to start.
Chaffetz is running for Senate in Utah.
It is all about posture and press time.
Primary him.
So, he has outstanding problems with the Obummer whitehouse on ethics issues. Flash message to Jason, Obummer has been out of office for months. The time to have concluded those inquiries was probably over a year ago. So, you decide to make a big splash now about Trump's administration. To what end? Surely not to do your job as it was not important for the past few years.
Are these the NSA documents that have not been forthcoming for months?
We have so many Republicans who are complete wusses when it comes to Democrats, but who suddenly turn tough when dealing with non-Establishment GOPers. They are playing for the other team, and hoping we won’t notice.
I sure would like to see the Republicans get along better.
I understand the oversight idea....but there’s the separation of powers, too.
