Academics Finally Notice Conservatives Exist
Accuracy in Academia ^ | April 2, 2017 | Cliff Kincaid

As a long-time news analyst, I find it refreshing that at least some professors are taking the rise of conservative journalism seriously and treating it as a subject to be studied. In a "Call for Book Chapters on Conservative News," professors Anthony M. Nadler and A.J. Bauer are calling on academics and others to contribute essays on the growth and influence of conservative news and opinion outlets.

"Conservative news has become a tremendously powerful platform in the United States, wielding a vast influence on the terms of political discourse," they note.

Nadler is an Assistant Professor of Media and Communication Studies at Ursinus College and is the author of Making the News Popular: Mobilizing U.S. News Audiences (2016, University of Illinois Press). Bauer is a Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellow and Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Social & Cultural Analysis at New York University.

It may be the case that liberal academia is looking for an antidote to the success of conservative news and information. But the success of shows like Sean Hannity's are something to be studied, not mocked as "bad for America."

"Crucially," notes Bauer, "reported trust in major news media in the U.S. differs greatly along partisan lines." This reflects the fact that conservative Americans have rejected the liberal media, and have looked for and found alternatives.

In his preliminary draft for the full project proposal, Bauer writes, "While it is obvious that conservative news cultures have been powerful and among the forces shaping the circulation and norms of political discourse, critical media studies has largely let the story of conservative news slip past its view."

In other words, the liberals in the media and academia did not see this coming. They didn’t understand the powerful forces of conservative media as a reaction to the liberal media monopoly that is now in the process of disintegrating.

Ted Koppel is in a position to understand and study this phenomenon. Instead, Koppel highlights a "polarized America." He had a chance to understand the phenomenon of conservative news and opinion, but decided instead to attack it.

It’s "bad for America" when liberals in the media abandon the debate and try to smear their opponents. We didn’t expect this from Koppel.

They want to study us because the realize their futures now aren’t in control by devious liberals and that money for this and that has to come from somewhere. They aren’t doing this to reexamine their principles; they are reexamining it to adjust their scam. Do not trust them, especially the ones in liberal and social disciplines.

Clearly, academics thought that journalists were simply honest, unbiased objective reporters of facts.

Now the academics realize that the world is a little more nuanced:

On the one hand, you have honest, unbiased objective reporters of facts.
and on the other hand,
you have far-right, dangerous, crazy people with far too much influence in the world.

I would be surprised if academia reached any other conclusion.

They only want to study conservative media so they can fight it more effectively. They lost badly in the last election and must find a way to trick voters in 2020, which is difficult to do since 60% of voters don’t believe anything the Democrat media and polling companies produce.

Each one, teach one!

Lesson one:

They need to understand that they are not the liberals, we are.

The proper name for them is “cosmo-totalitarian”, “cosmo-fascist” or “leftists.”

Explains a lot, including their demands for “safe spaces” and cognitive dissonance over racism. Seems many of them simply don’t conceive of conservatism et al as anything other than a moral aberration - and since their morality is based on atheism, they cannot accept that conservatives et al are anything but a lower, inept, and dangerous life form. It’s just a new form of the classic norm of cultures viewing outsiders as sub-human.

Many of these social progressive academics imagine they are kings and have no idea they have “no clothes.” They exist in geographical pockets and social circles of progressivism where few to none challenge their ideas. To them, testing their concepts in the fire of a true crucible of ideas is terrifying.

The rest of them are fully cognizant of the fact they are naked and encourage others to strip off their clothes as long is it advances their subversive cause: globalism, redistributionism, Euro-style socialism, Marxist-progressivism, anticapitalism, et al.

That’s why I _never_ use the term “liberal” for that group any more - they are not liberal by any definition, they are neo-Bolshevik anti-conservatives, supporting anything (like Islam) so long as it enhances their fight against conservatism.

I found a local (Univ. North Texas) journalism student at a recent Republican Party monthly meeting. I introduced her around and arranged for her to interview our Congressman Michael Burgess.

She subsequently wrote a very nice, thorough, and accurate, piece on him for the college paper.
I then discovered her faculty advisor and wrote him an email congratulating her on her work, and of course him on his leadership.
:-)

“What conservative journalism?” EXACTLY!

Which is exactly why sites like this have come to exist. http://www.honestyinmedia.org/

From the site linked above “On Thursday, March 30, a letter with nearly 275 signatures from medical doctors, scientists, and health-related organizations was submitted to President Trump expressing support for a Vaccine Safety Commission.

Five of the signers of the letter, including two medical doctors, two Ph.D. scientists and one medical journalist, held a press conference at 9:00 AM Friday, March 31 at the National Press Club to present scientific evidence documenting that vaccines not only cause autism but also cause numerous other medical conditions and death.

Since 1986, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program[1], established through legislation signed by President Reagan, has paid out more than $3.5 billion[2] in claims for injuries caused by vaccines. It is estimated that only a small fraction of people injured by vaccines pursue remediation through the Program’s “Vaccine Court” and that two out of three claims are denied. Despite these figures, the nation’s prominent news agencies consistently fail to acknowledge the inherent and extensive risks of vaccines.

Medical professionals and members of the scientific communities are coming forward to demand more accurate and unbiased reporting to better serve the public’s interest.”

Did you see this on your local and national news?? Big Pharma owns the media so this is an “off limits” topic.

The quote from this independent journalist sums up why the current media is becoming completely irrelevant-I included the link to the whole article, this is an excerpt.

http://www.jeffereyjaxen.com/blog/house-oversight-committee-now-investigating-cdc-whistleblower-dr-william-thompson

“It was during his speech in D.C. that Del Bigtree stated the following:

“Just about a year ago I came to Washington, D.C. for the first time and went into politician’s offices, including Jason Chaffetz among others, and would ask the question, “Are you aware of Dr. William Thompson the CDC whistleblower?”...just a blank stare...”I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Really? Really? You do realize a year and a half ago one of our top scientists of our most important health agency in our nation came forward and said they are committing scientific fraud. You’re not aware of that? “Never heard of it?”

Yesterday I was in D.C. – my third trip now – and every office I went to, including those who are diametrically opposed to our truth, I asked the question, “Are you aware of Dr. William Thompson the CDC Whistleblower?” And every single one of them said, “Yes I am.” In fact, they made a great statement which was usually “I know someone on the OGR committee, which is the Oversight Committee of Government Reform, and they have briefed me on this situation. Which means the Oversight Committee of Government Reform is officially investigating Dr. William Thompson.”

...and the mainstream, corporate media was silent...and no longer relevant. The people have taken back their fourth estate and have become the media. The corporate media can have their ‘fake news’, we’ll take the truth.”

There are a number of fundamental assumptions that have been challenged by nothing more complicated than Trump's victory in the face of nearly unanimous media derision, and for thinking academics in the field (a minority) it's as if the law of gravity has suddenly broken down. One of these assumptions is that control of language is control of the debate, either by forcing a single meme (the embarrassingly unanimous characterization of Trump's "dark" speech) or by the outright prohibition of certain phrases by declaring them politically incorrect. They achieved the unanimity, but not the control. It's killing them.

Another is that the television-bound American lumpenproletariat is unable to find other sources of news despite the advent of talk radio that first questioned that assumption and the advent of the Internet that has destroyed it. We weren't supposed to be smart enough to do that.

A third is that public opinion turns out not to be infinitely malleable after all, which a surprisingly popular assumption in academia despite its clear historical invalidity. So yes, of course they want to study this thing and probably should have been all along, because the academics are as out of touch as the media celebrities and don't understand why the rules they've been living by for so long no longer work.
