As The Susan Rice Scandal Explodes, The Russia Election Hacking Story Gets Murkier

Scandal: While the momentum behind the Russia-election-meddling story chugs along, the claim that sparked the entire drama — that Russians hacked the Democratic National Committee — appears to have suffered a big blow. Does anybody care?

The Russia connection was first made by a private cybersecurity firm whose work has been treated as unassailable — until last week, when it had to rewrite and retract statements made to support that claim.

To understand what happened and why it is significant requires going through a brief timeline of events.

Where is the evidence?

This is the democrat position on evidence:

“The seriousness of the charge mandates that we investigate this.
Even though there is no evidence, the the seriousness of the charge is what matters.”

-- Tom Foley (1929-2013) former Democrat Speaker Of The House

I think it’s becoming clear that they manufactured the “Russian conspiracy” to justify the surveillance of the Trump campaign for political purposes.

This. The next step is getting anyone in the mainstream media to follow the trail. Chances are not good they'll do that - UNLESS - some young, hungry reporter/journalist smells a Pulitzer.

Adding my two cents to what everyone else might also be thinking:

1. First narrative, the "because the Russians," Flynn was recorded while talking with the Russian Ambassador. American Citizens sometimes get recorded while some other person was targeted, however the U.S. citizen's identities must remain hidden. Flynn's identity became known.

2. It wasn't necessary to target Trump or his family or associates. All that was necessary was to target people Trump or family or associates were likely to call and intercept their communications that way. In this narrative though, there are no "Russians" and no suggestion of illegality.

3. The picture that is emerging is that no illegal activities alleged, and that Trump, his family, and associates were flat out targeted for surveillance and intelligence gathering, with the intent to distribute what was gathered to other agencies, and with the intent to leak the information to the press. Again, these people may have been targeted simply because of who they were, and not because they did anything illegal.

4. I think the first crack in the dam was Evelyn Farkas. She blathered on about intelligence and didn't have the smarts to suggest "The Russians."

Inquiring minds want to know if the other candidates were also surveilled and intercepted. We want to know if in truth, "Elections have consequences." If people committed major crimes, and are not prosecuted, this demonstrates that the laws are indeed for the little people, and that if you are connected enough, they'll yell at you, but that's about it.

I cannot give legal advice, but to SusiQ I will give friendly suggestions.

Shut up.
Lawyer up.
Hole up.

Best answer of the day, week, month and since the Russia bs was started last year.

I think it’s becoming clear that they manufactured the “Russian conspiracy” to justify the surveillance of the Trump campaign for political purposes.

And if Russians - or whomever - did maliciously access the server and released the contents, so what?
Yeah, that’s illegal, prosecute as appropriate using evidence meaningful in court against actors subject to our jurisdiction. If foreign sovereigns were involved, that’s what diplomats are for. So far, sounds like there’s no such evidence other than the simple fact that the contents _were_ accessed and _were_ released, and the DNC does _not_ deny the raging embarrassments therein.

Still no Trump connection.
Still the consequence of using the equivalent of a hairpin to secure the server.
Still equivalent to what we used to laud as “investigative journalism”: a secret source acquires private documents, and gives them to a reporter for publication.
Still no actual _secrets_ (in a federal law kinda way), just embarrassing messages pursuant to normal politics.

There’s nothing _actionable_ here, even if for sake of argument we accept everything the Left accuses.

Susan Rice is Obama’s Foreign Policy Advisor. She is the one who was primarily sent out with the phony Anti-Muslim Video story - blaming it on the Benghazi attack and the deaths of the 4 American there. She kept repeating this same lie over and over again at the behest of BHO.

Fast forward, and it turns out it is SR who was responsible for the leaking of the names of Trump’s campaign and transition teams who were caught on the [illegal] surveillance tapes the government of BHO was collecting for a so-called Russian conspiracy [hoax]. Sounds convoluted to be sure. However, it is illegal to release names of innocent Americans who are caught on tape during an investigation.

Just thought of something else to add to your list. Wikileaks had released tons of communicaes from HRCs illegal server. I believe that could be the root of all of this evil. Could be that the DNC is trying to redirect blame for criminal activity on the part of HRC and The Donald and the Russians are the easy target(s).

Susan Rice ordered spy agencies to produce ‘spreadsheets’ on Trump, aides

Former President Barack Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice ordered U.S. spy agencies to produce “detailed spreadsheets” of legal phone calls involving Donald Trump and his aides when he was running for president, according to former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova.

“What was produced by the intelligence community at the request of Ms. Rice were detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates in perfectly legal conversations with individuals,” diGenova told The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group Monday.

Overheard - Conversations - Activity - Anybody - Trump
“The overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of the Trump associates, or anyone they were speaking with,” diGenova said. “In short, the only apparent illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls.”

Other knowledgeable official sources with direct knowledge and who requested anonymity confirmed to TheDCNF diGenova’s description of surveillance reports Rice ordered one year before the 2016 presidential election.

Monday - Fox - News - Bloomberg - News
Also on Monday, Fox News and Bloomberg News, citing multiple sources reported that Rice had requested the intelligence information that was produced in a highly organized operation. Fox said the unmasked names of Trump aides were given to officials at the National Security Council (NSC), the Department of Defense, James Clapper, President Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, and John Brennan, Obama’s CIA Director.

Joining Rice in the alleged White House operations was her deputy Ben Rhodes, according to Fox.

Critics of the atmosphere prevailing throughout the Obama administration’s last year in office point to former Obama Deputy Defense Secretary Evelyn Farkas who admitted in a March 2 television interview on MSNBC that she “was urging my former colleagues,” to “get as much information as you can, get as much intelligence as you can, before President Obama leaves the administration.”

Farkas sought to walk back her comments in the weeks following: “I didn’t give anybody anything except advice.”

With all we’ve read recently from wikileaks about our intelligence agencies being able to hack and make it look like some foreign country was behind it whos’ to say it wasn’t one of our agencies who hacked the DNC and made it look like Russia?

Thank you. FReeper Liz has made reference to RICO. I think the case can be made starting with these events wherein the Democrat Party used the power of the State to illegally spy on private citizens.

It can be expanded to include Democrats in States and Cities who are openly defying the Government by establishing sanctuary cities. Is there a point where someone will successfully prove that the Democrat Party is a criminal organization well within the definition of RICO? And can we not only hope for massive RICO criminal prosecutions, but equally massive civil asset forfeitures from those politicians and/or their States and Cities? And even more hopefully, can we hope that if the Courts designate the Democrat Party as a RICO operation, that it must cease and desist as a political party, and be banned from future political contests?

Thanks. I saw the Atlantic comment by Rice, and with all the data it went over my head.

the CIA had a piece of software it used to mimic Russian hacking,

And in true Washington weasel wording, and Clintonian parsing Comey could with a straight face say there is evidence of Russian hacking......

Not that its fake , and planted, just that as I look at it, it looks Russian.....
