What I find most fascinating is the lack of rationale with regard to any external involvement, alleged or actual. What would be the motivation for the Russian government to want The Donald in office? HRC would have been a far better POTUS from the Russian perspective as they have proven time and time again to be able to manipulate her with $. The Donald, though admiring of Putin’s patriotism and love for his country, is the greatest obstacle to any Russian expansionism. Putin simply would not want The Donald if his aims were world domination.

I think it’s becoming clear that they manufactured the “Russian conspiracy” to justify the surveillance of the Trump campaign for political purposes.

I think either would have been equally acceptable to the Russians. The goal was a painfully close election like 2000 which leaves the new president weakened and ineffective. The perfect result would have been 269-269 in the electoral college with the House deciding the election.
