Trump blames Assad for deadly chemical attack in Syria, U.S. under pressure

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday condemned a Syrian chemical weapons attack that killed dozens and blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but did not say how he would respond despite calls from France for stronger U.S. leadership.

Trump said the attack in Syria's Idlib province was "reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world," although he also sought to blame his predecessor, Barack Obama.

"These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the last administration's weakness and irresolution," Trump said in a statement. "President Obama said in 2012 that he would establish a 'red line' against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing."

Trump has surrendered to the Neo-cons due to the endless Russia crap and the spying. It’s just the way it has to be for now. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Many times his words don’t match his actions, in a good way.

He knows how to shut people up. I Hope that is what is going on here.

Finally winning a civil war after 6 years and making strident gains.

Hardly seems like the time to kill 100 civilians with chemical weapons and tempt fate with the US.

Not saying it’s impossible, just illogical.

Lenin said the purpose of terror is to terrorize. Assad and putin are similarly minded to Lenin. They want a docile and beaten people to rule with no expectations of rights.

Let's insert another "dot".

At some point, Assad gave up his chemical weapons (under Obama). Just as Khadafi had many years ago.

When Assad gave up his weapons, Russia removed them. The USA provided inspection and the job was completed.

That Assad would go back to chem weapons makes no sense.

Let’s assume everything you say is right

I dont want a proxy war in Syria.

Or worse yet, a REAL war.

Get as many countries under the NATO blanket as possible and that’s it.

Work with Al Sisi and maybe Jordan to have some stable pro US countries over there.

Rooters, there you go again.

The closest (miles away) Rooters gets to the claim in the title is here, where it's NOT something Trump said, it is some unnamed deep-State Department moron:

"Those outside backers who are said to be guarantors of the (Assad) regime obviously have a lot to answer for,” the State Department official said, referring to Russia and Iran, which have provided military backing for Assad.

I still think it was Khadafi refusal to bribe Clinton that triggered it. The entire world was making protection payments to that women but Khadafi refused.

why do I distrust ohter governments less than I trust McCain and the neocon globalists?

why do I think chemical weapons were supplied by the US through McCain and others who are just chomping at the bit to get into another war?

why do I think that some “rebels” were given these by our own spooks?

really, I do trust Russia more than I trust our own government at this particular time.

Chemical weapons are not hard to make. So even if Syria gave all of them, which they may not have, they could have made more. And if you believe the Islamsists made them, then surely you agree Assad could have done likewise.
