Actually, I'm not sure this is good. A real lot of Republicans in DC are phonies. Now they'll be able to reach 50 without depending on conservatives. We have to hope that Trump stays firm if anyone else comes up, he chooses a pro-Constitution conservative.

While I agree that it’s a dumb move politically, it’s also a good indication as to how far to the left Bernie and Hillary dragged the party over the past two years or so.
Now, if any Democrat legislators don’t toe the Leftist (and far, far, Leftist at that) they’ll anger what’s left of their base.
And the longer this goes on, the smaller that base will become as reasonable people continue to desert the Democrat Party in droves.
Ultimately, the Democrats left in the Senate will be forced by their base to resist anything and everything the GOP puts forth legislatively and Senator McConnell will have no choice but to apply the Reid Rule to legislation as well. Then we’ll finally be back to the system the Founders designed where a majority of the Senate decides the fate of legislation, not a supermajority.
