Don Rickles Dead at 90
TMZ ^ | 4/6/17

Don Rickles, one of the most legendary, iconic and influential comedians in history, has died.

We've learned Don died Thursday morning of kidney failure at his home in Los Angeles. His wife, Barbara, was by his side.

Don rose to fame in the '60s ... he got a huge boost by making regular appearances on "The Tonight Show" and "The Dean Martin Show."

Rickles got Frank Sinatra's attention in Miami Beach when he performed a comedy routine, and the 2 regularly worked together throughout the years.

Rickles was the best insult comic ever, and was a master at roasting celebs at The Friar's Club. Getting roasted by Rickles was a brutal badge of honor.

He started performing in Vegas in the '80s with Steve Lawrence and took the town by storm.

Don had his own TV show, "The Don Rickles Show," on ABC.

He played voice of Mr. Potato Head in the 'Toy Story' movies.

He also was a regular on "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Addams Family" and "Gilligan's Island."

Videos at link. I remember ROTFLMAO whenever he appeared on the Johnny Carson Show and the Dean Martin Roasts. His old routines would make perfect ammo for triggering the SWJ/BLM snowflakes, like this. He also served in the Navy during WW2 RIP, sir. Thank you for your service and thanks for the laughs!

He was an insult comedian, but he took on all comers.

He made fun of himself, too. My favorite was from a long, long time ago.

He said, “I just got back from Japan. Wonderful people, the Japanese, so polite. Everywhere I went, they said, “Ah-so! Ah-so!””

Which, professionally speaking, he was.

Goodbye, and thanks for making us laugh.

I just binge watched about 2 hours worth of highlights of him on YouTube last night. I’ve also watched the HBO (I think) special on him recently. One of a kind guy.

born in New York to immigrant parents from the Austrian Empire.[3][4][5] His family was Jewish and spoke Yiddish at home. Rickles grew up in the Jackson Heights area.

After graduating from Newtown High School, Rickles enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II

The High School I went to and graduated from.

RIP

What a great great comedian and American. I have watched him since my childhood and sought out anything he either headlined or was acting in. I will miss him as I’m sure multitudes of others will. He had a great life and seemed to enjoy his time here..._____ and taxes.

Rickles lived a very long, full life. It's known that in the early 1960's, he was quasi-associated with the famous Rat Pack in Las Vegas because Rickles was a stand-up comic in Las Vegas casino lounges and members of the Rat Pack would often show up at his performances.

How about when he sold Barney Fife the fake fur and the watch that went haywire?

He was a funny man. R.I.P., Mr. Rickles.

And thanks for the link. Those old roasts were funny. Not PC at all, but funny. :)

Sad.

He could never do that kind of comedy today.
