Yes, and we have to hope that Gorsuch doesn’t turn out to be a disappointment like too many justices appointmented by Republican presidents. So I won’t assume conservatives really have won this round until we see some rulings by this guy.

This is about where I am on this. A sigh of relief that the Court isn't in the hands of 4 libs plus the erratic Kennedy. I'll feel comfortable after Gorsuch chimes in on a 2A case the right way.

I was encouraged by his refusal to give a break to the trucker stuck in the cold. Gorsuch said he couldn’t because the law said what it said. Compassion said to give the guy a break. The law said don’t move your rig. He moved his rig.

Hardly the case. True, the truck's trailer brakes were frozen and inoperable. True, it was unsafe to drive the trailer. So the driver unhooked the trailer, drove the fully operational truck cap to a rest stop, and saved his life. And got fired for it. He didn't break a law, he violated company policy.

Do you mean how long to become Chief Justice?

The President appoints a Chief Justice. It's not a seniority matter and there is no requirement that the Chief Justice be selected from one of the sitting Associate Justices.

‘Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg, our next likely SCOTUS replacement. Although it might be Kennedy, word has it he wants to retire.’

Two more would tip the SCOTUS decisively.

Oh?

It seems the heat in the truck wasn't working properly.

Same difference. It went by the letter of the law/policy/whatever.

What I meant was that unlike the trailer the brakes on the truck cab were working.

Now if Sotomayor can just fulfill her genetic predisposition for early demise, they remove Bernie ‘s body from Ginsburg’s chambers and Souter realize he was meant to tie fishing lures on his porch, all will be good.

I expect him to use the same belief when the court decides the Pauley case.

I want him true to the text of the constitution. The text is determined by grammar and word definition. Some call it the letter of the law.

“‘Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg, our next likely SCOTUS replacement. Although it might be Kennedy, word has it he wants to retire.’”

I can't come up with the posting right now, but yesterday there was a commentary on the relationship between Justice Kennedy, his family and Trump. It intimated that Kennedy may want to step down and allow Trump to name his replacement and that in some way, Kennedy's two sons (who are close friends of the Trump sons) are involved in the process. Kennedy was appointed by Reagan and he's been a swing vote on many rulings so he would not be the lightning rod that RBG would be should she be the next to go. Replacing Kennedy with someone more ideologically Rightist would further cement a Strict Constructionist Court.

Ted was grasping at straws to save his candidacy.
Ted remains a rock conservative.
It’s time freepers forgive Ted and welcome him back, he’s on our side.
