It doesn't take Rasputin to see what is clear as day. When I heard about the Syria strike last night, Bannon's situation at the WH made perfect sense. Bannon objected to the Syria strike and was overruled.

You want to see it in print? Here you go.

I hate to hear that if it’s true.....can’t believe President Trump would do that to those of us who have supported and voted for him.

Trump said over and over on the campaign that he would take ISIS out because we have no choice. And he objected to Obama pulling out of Iraq. His message was not purely about staying out of foreign entanglements. He was on both sides of that issue. On the Syria issue, he never took a hard stand that I recall. He was pretty neutral and “wait and see” on that one.

You're reading more than is there. I said that the nationalist-populist worldview objected to the U.S. getting into foreign entanglements. That worldview influenced Trump's rhetoric. I didn't say Trump was married to a nationalist-populist worldview. In fact, the Syrian attack is very strong evidence against at least the nationalist part.

Who or what is “Axios” and why is it being given any credibility?

Axios is former top people at Politico, with backing from NBC and Atlantic Media, among others.

People didn’t vote for Ivanka and her husband.

You voted for the whole package. People on this forum certainly knew what Ivanka and Kushner were all about as I myself posted their history of funding Cory Booker, same-sex marriage, pushing the equal pay meme, being BFFs with Chelsea Clinton. And everyone knew Trump was extremely close to Ivanka and looked to her for insight and advice.

Donald Trump is the President, not Steve Bannon. An advisor offers advice. The President has the final say. The fact that they may have disagreed on this particular item is by no means a sign of declining influence.

Just like they were saying he was "ousted" from the NSC, and yet was right there in the very next meeting.

Sometimes reading too much into things occurs.

If Bannon leaves anytime soon, I'll be very surprised, and revise my opinion. I suspect he'll be around for a long time, though, and I would take his departure as a bad omen...

But, hey, even I didn’t anticipate that within 3 months they’d hire notorious Clinton crony Jamie Gorelick as their lawyer.

I don’t know what to tell you if you can’t see that Kushner’s stock is on the rise and Bannon’s stock is falling in value. I’m not passing judgment on this. I’m just making the observation.

Did you anticipate that Cruz would pick Neil Bush to run finances?

Probably wants to put them someplace where media doesn't have free access.

These guys are long time friends. Ain't gonna happen. Priebus backed Trump when other repubs were bashing him.

How much influence do his daughter and son-in-law have when it comes to letting people go?

Preibus, I can understand but Bannon?

I like how Bannon lights up the left wingers; hope this is not true.

You probably ought to pay more attention to the political cronies who are now popping up in the administration: Jamie Gorelick, attorney for Jared and Ivanka; Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel, architect of Obamacare, advising the White House on an Obamacare replacement; Kevin McCarthy, liberal RINO and Paul Ryan sycophant; and there are more.

No one knew that they’d become part of the WH staff and begin steering Trump away from the stances that won the election. If he abandons the stances that won for him, his supporters will oppose him with the sane passion they supported him,.

Time will tell.

My thoughts as well. I will take it a step further and say that Kushner and Ivanka are highly influencing how POTUS governs in an effort to make him more winnable in 2020.

Kushner is said to have been instrumental with Trump ousting both Manafort and Lewandowski during the campaign.
