Democrats Commend Trump's Response to Syria...With Caveats

Some Democrats are commending President Trump for giving the go ahead on retaliatory airstrikes on Syria after Tuesday's chemical attack, which killed nearly 100 people.

“I think it was the right thing to do," Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said on Fox News Friday.

Echoing those remarks, Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) said in a statement that the airstrikes sent a "clear and measured message" to the Bashar al-Assad regime (although she also blamed Trump in part for the tension because of his travel ban.)

You'll notice another caveat in Duckworth's statement. While she and some of her fellow Democrats approve of Trump's initial action, these lawmakers want Trump to seek congressional approval should he wish to take further military action in Syria.

"Going forward I think we should have an Authorization for Use of Military Force," Klobuchar noted. "If in fact there are going to be additional actions taken.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has asked Speaker Paul Ryan to interrupt their two-week recess to immediately begin debate on an AUMF.

The only reason democrats are supporting this is it got them off the hook for the time being....so they're going to stretch this support out as long as they can to keep it and then in the news favorably.

59 Tomahawks - what a number!

Now nobody can say President Trump doesn’t have street cred with the NeoCons.

59. Why 59? Was one a dud? Or is there some regulation about when you need Ckngress or UN approval which would take forever

I always get nervous when Dems approve a Republican president’s actions. When they disapprove of his actions then I instinctively know he has taken the right course of action.

Will these democrats be viciously trolled by their supporters for figuratively patting President Trump’s back?

When the Rats approve of what you’re doing, it is time to reevaluate your move.
