It shows how there could be a real war between the US and the Soviets without anyone using Nukes,

Red Dawn had both sides using nukes.

I agree with the assessment that Russia will fight to keep the Syrian nation under their control. I have to admit their cancellation of the deconfliction communication line disturbs me. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/04/07/ap-explains-us-russia-line-protected-pilots-over-syria.html. I believe we may have to deescalate to prevent further conflict.

If that is true then blaming or cursing President Trump will avail nothing and each one should be prepared to meet our God.

Hoe-Lee-Krap!

I rarely if ever go beyond putting something in Caps, bold, or underlining it, but that pic just might deserve a font 10 ft. tall. It is like turning a corner and staring Satan in the face.

However, in order to not leave myself open to doing a “Colin Powell”, I should first ask:

Is that a pic of a bunker @ Sayrat Airfield, after the US attack Fri. early a.m. (Syria time)?

Source of the pic? (Hack of Syrian military? Spy? Some Syrian personnel too dense to not understand not to distribute such a pic?)

Did we hit chem weapons storage knowing the risk (when in binary containment) was nil, and then SAY we did not target chemical weapons storage? (IIRC, one of our military spokesmen said we did not hit chem weapons storage facilities. I suppose empty containers might qualify — sort of a white lie — but it seems doubtful our intel would be good enough to be SURE of that...)

If the answers to those questions are “Yes”, the source is legit, and “yes”; then my “10 ft. tall font” is deserved.

Can anyone here NOT imagine what that much Sarin could do to, say, Tel Aviv?

Have half of all FReepers forgotten WE have Special Forces in Syria, fighting ISIS, and due to the nature of the 5-way (6-way?) fight, how easy it would be for, even if unintentional, our guys to be on the receiving end of this stuff?

The very existence of this stuff, especially in a civil war torn country, means every day it becomes likely terrorists will manage to capture some Sarin, and, in this form (does not degrade rapidly), will hold it until they have a chance to hit, say, London?

Remember who one of Syria’s major allies on the ground is: Hezbollah.

I suppose it is possible the Russians will say these are left over containers from destruction of Sarin precursors, back in 2013, but why would they be kept around? It’d be difficult for outside intel to be SURE they were all empty, and discovery of them could result in anything from embarrassment to a heavy strike by the US or, especially, Israel. This particularly in light of Syria’s past and continued use of chem weapons.

This SURELY blows up the “Syria does not have binary Sarin storage capability” argument. (That argument made no sense anyway: Syria has a long history with chem weapons, and Russian tech help, and are bound to be fairly competent in this area.)

I’ll conclude by saying I am stunned at the lack of comments on this image, or what it means. People just don’t recognize the extent of evil in all its forms, I guess.

The Russians are claiming that they’re containers for cluster munitions. They sure do look like the containers for chemical weapons though and the fact seems to remain that nerve gas was deployed... by someone. President Trump says it was the Syrian government. He has to base his decisions and actions on the intelligence provided to him by our intelligence gathering agencies. We can’t second guess them as much as we might be tempted to.

You’re right. I forgot about the tactical stuff. But it stayed on the battlefield.

We fired 59 old Tomahawk cruise missiles at 1.1 million dollars a piece and destroyed 2 old Mig 23s that were being repaired. Keep in mind we did hardly any damage to the runway too.

Although it’s great for Raytheon. Now they can sell us at least more next generation Tomahawk cruise missiles.

“...as of now, no sane person wants to go to war with the U.S.

Well, the thing is, not every country is lead by or even populated by sane people.

Our President ( who I supported from day one ) consistently said we squandered $5-6 trillion in the mideast

‘we could have rebuilt everything’

It’s very tough to seriously damage a modern hardened runway with anything but munitions designed to do so, which really takes bombs made for that sort of thing, from aircraft. So far as I know, we’ve not claimed we tried to put the runways out of commission. The only pics I’ve seen look like we hit something ON the one runway.

Are you saying we should have bombed with aircraft?

It really doesn’t matter: Even if the runways were very seriously damaged, temporary repairs would take a couple days at most. Now, if we’d hit several more airfields, all with runway busting bombs, then the Syrians might have a bit of a problem.

The Syrian Army itself reported “extensive” damage. Russian TV (an on scene correspondent) said 9 planes were destroyed, we claim “up to 20.” Where are you getting “2”?

For certain, several concrete hangars WERE seriously damaged, the point being that while our warning to Russia may have allowed the Syrians to get the most valuable planes to safety, without our “heads up”, they’d have been toast. This was a warning, somewhat akin to Kirk having the Enterprise stun a bunch of thugs in “A Piece of the Action”.

As this sort of warning goes, $60-$70 million is pretty cheap.

You can’t be held hostage to that remote possibility. And if it DOES happen, then it is best to plan for war, because you are almost certainly going to get it, no matter what you do.
