A former United States Marine who traveled to New Jersey with a gun he legally owned — but which was not registered in New Jersey — is facing three years in prison for firearm law violations.

The three years is the minimum sentence that former Marine Sergeant Hisashi Pompey has to serve before he can even be eligible for parole under New Jersey’s strict gun control laws.

ABC 7 reports that Pompey did “three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan for which he received medals for bravery.” He was a military police sergeant.

“Yet another reason for national reciprocity.”

Dude had his loaded gun on his hip at a nightclub fight at 2:30 AM!

WTF?

Apparently NJ views guns like they do pit bulls, as if they could be trained and have autonomous volition.

We wanted to know where the Prohibition mindset went. We need ask no more.

“Dumbass. His real offense was failure to secure his gun against being taken by his idiot friend, “

Defendant retrieved his gun from the car, loaded it and put it on his hip and returned to the fight.

This was done in the parking lot after being kicked out of the bar and while police were trying to calm down crowd.

His friend pulled the gun out of the holster and threatened the police.

“Chris Christie could free him this afternoon. Someone call his office.”

Won’t happen, Christie is anti-2A. So glad this fat turd will soon be gone. He and “Mary Pat” can lumber off into the sunset and never be seen or heard again.

“It does appear Pompey engaged in more than simple possession.”

3 AM on Christmas day.

“Defendant testified that a lengthy brawl broke out in the club. The bouncers kicked everyone out of the club, but Wilson stayed inside. Defendant went into the parking lot, where officers were trying to disperse the crowd. Defendant went to Wilson’s car, put a holster on his hip, removed his handgun from the glove compartment, put the gun in the holster, and put the magazine in the gun.”

“This Marine”

This Marine was at a nightclub at 3 AM on Christmas day and the whole club got booted out for an extended fight.

Police were on the scene.

Said Marine then went to the car, retrieved his gun and holster, loaded gun and placed gun and holster on his hip.

WTF!

The feds should have a national license that allows carriage in all 50 states and supersedes any state restrictions, just like immigration laws supposedly are superseded. Second Amendment is federal law and a citizen’s right everywhere.

So what’s the accusation. Bringing a gun to the scene of a brawl? The gun got no wrongful use till someone stole it.

You missed the real scandal which was that the accusation is not even on point. They don’t have to prove reckless endangerment or the like. Constitutionally they should.

WV is pretty good, a couple of years ago they passed concealed carry without the training and background check, it is only good for WV, one has to get the training to carry in other states.

Maryland is really bad, although not so much in Western Maryland.

And, if you live in NV, you gotta be careful if driving west. We have an event to go to in LA next weekend so I gotta make sure I disarm my vehicle before crossing into utopia. Do they still sell gas with unicorn additives in calibfornia? Guess I’ll find out. Normally we avoid crossing over but this is for a friend of mine of 55 years who had a bad stroke so we gotta go. Fund raiser/tribute concert.

“(on the West Cost, the western portions of California, Washington, and Oregon also need to go.) No, we can’t all get along.”

Hey idiot, I see no reason why I should cede to the liberals, the place where I live in the “western portion of California.” Why should the liberal Commie RATs get to make off with our coastal areas? The issue isn’t yielding territory to them, but rather forcing them to obey the basic rights afforded every citizen by the Constitution. Sure glad you weren’t around back in 1776. You would have probably cut a deal with King George. It’s really funny here on FR where you lightweights who probably live in Texass or some piece of “flyover country” come up with these rules for places you’ve probably never even been. Now, go back to your double wide and fry something!

The Marine thought he was above civilian law. Very dangerous when the military believe they can arm themselves and act as police agents over civilians. Forbidden by the Posse Comitatus Act.

After reading the article it is apparent that the Marine made several mistakes.

First he had the handgun in his car and accessible to his idiot friend.

Second he was out at 3 AM and got involved in a fight in a club.

Third his Wife and 3 Kids were obviously home without him.

Fourth he didn’t just leave when told to leave.

Finally he let his friend strap on a holster, get the handgun, LOAD the handgun, and then confront police.

Sorry but the guy gets no sympathy from me. Marine, not a Marine, war hero or not he was acting like a thug with thug friends in a thug environment, breaking the law while doing so.

I have a handgun in my vehicle at all times no matter where I go. I don’t break the law, I don’t speed, I don’t drive reckless, I don’t do anything that would cause local law enforcement to look twice at me. I don’t have NRA stickers all over my vehicle, don’t wear an NRA hat - I am just plain as can be.

This whole case has nothing to New Jersey law except he got caught up in it. He should have been home where he belonged and kept his firearm under his control.

“What a disgusting way to treat a man who has served his country with distinction.”......

If the liberals had their way, this same thing would be done all across this country. Time for Trump to force the issue and get legal gun ownership and “carrying” passed for EVERY STATE!
