Yet another reason for national reciprocity. Well except the part about keeping and bearing arms in the 2nd amendment. You know. The part that says "with the exclusion of New Jersey.".

Why any freedom loving gun owner would even set foot in New Jersey is beyond me.

What a disgusting way to treat a man who has served his country with distinction.

Chris Christie could free him this afternoon. Someone call his office.

Time to put the hammer down on the Peoples Republic of New Jersey and the other communist states in the Northeast!

This not only a Constitutionally protected right, but this is one of America’s best (being a Marine) to boot, as if it needs to be pointed out.

Most of NJ’s political system is corrupted and don’t know what Christie can do in the short term. But he now has a friend in the WH that should be taken advantage of.

Why haven’t all these draconian Gun COntrol Laws at the State level been found unconstitutional on the grounds that they interfere with Interstate Commerce?? Seems like an Easy Win.

Six years ago Pompey visited New Jersey and brought his legally owned handgun with him from Virginia. During the course of the night, one of Pompey’s friends got involved in a fight, retrieved the gun, and “carried it into a confrontation with police.” Police arrested Pompey’s friend then arrested Pompey, as well, for having brought an unregistered handgun into the state.

Dumbass. His real offense was failure to secure his gun against being taken by his idiot friend, plus being stupid enough to associate with a guy who would bring a gun to a "police confrontation".

That said, unless there are issues we are not being told, he does not deserve prison.

There’s no way that states should have individual gun *ownership* laws any more than they should have individual laws regarding the press...worship...the Fifth Amendment, etc.

New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, California and Connecticut are communist states which do not recognize the 2nd Amendment.

Communist Countries do not like their residents to own guns. How else will they oppress the people, but by keeping them unarmed?

Stories like this show us why we can NEVER trust liberals with crafting gun control laws of any kind EVER. This Marine is now the laughing stock of the liberal scumbags in Trenton who beat their “oh so pious” breasts over “take downs of THEM” while the real gun violence body counts grow in Newark Trenton, Jersey City and Patterson. Fakes phonies frauds- all of them!

“Yet another reason for national reciprocity.”

Dude had his loaded gun on his hip at a nightclub fight at 2:30 AM!

WTF?

The feds should have a national license that allows carriage in all 50 states and supersedes any state restrictions, just like immigration laws supposedly are superseded. Second Amendment is federal law and a citizen’s right everywhere.

After reading the article it is apparent that the Marine made several mistakes.

First he had the handgun in his car and accessible to his idiot friend.

Second he was out at 3 AM and got involved in a fight in a club.

Third his Wife and 3 Kids were obviously home without him.

Fourth he didn’t just leave when told to leave.

Finally he let his friend strap on a holster, get the handgun, LOAD the handgun, and then confront police.

Sorry but the guy gets no sympathy from me. Marine, not a Marine, war hero or not he was acting like a thug with thug friends in a thug environment, breaking the law while doing so.

I have a handgun in my vehicle at all times no matter where I go. I don’t break the law, I don’t speed, I don’t drive reckless, I don’t do anything that would cause local law enforcement to look twice at me. I don’t have NRA stickers all over my vehicle, don’t wear an NRA hat - I am just plain as can be.

This whole case has nothing to New Jersey law except he got caught up in it. He should have been home where he belonged and kept his firearm under his control.

That’s how the extremists propagated homo marriage. How is it a government can require registration to exercise one Constitutional right, but photo ID for voting is said to violate the Constitution? And why isn’t there a journalism license?

Do States Rights as described in the Constitution include the nullification of the 10 Amendments if a state so chooses?

1: The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

IMO,this should be grounds for voiding all state firearm laws that are more restrictive than those in the “free” states.

1. He’s a fool for moving to NJ, even if he “needed” to go there for a job.

2. He’s a fool for failing to read their gun laws carefully and failing to follow those laws. I live in the People’s Republic of Maryland, only slightly less strict, and I don’t even stop for gas when I have a handgun in my car. The law is clear (unconstitutional but unambiguous), and I don’t violate my state’s gun laws, not when the penalty includes a loss of gun rights!

3. It would be nice if the Fat Man would take a break from Krispy Kreme long enough to pardon this innocent victim of his state’s unconstitutional laws. Governor Christie probably won’t, which is one reason I didn’t seriously consider him for president in the last election, but it would still be nice if he would finally stand up for our God-given rights.

4. Now that Gorsuch is on the bench, it may be time for a Supreme Court challenge to extreme anti-gun laws. I wonder if this Marine has the right case for an NRA challenge - probably not, but it would be nice.
