Are you sure about that? Prospective employers may have different values than you. Prejudice against “conservatives” is real. Imagine if a, say, 22 year old today should be job hunting and his or her search history reveals enthusiasm for Donald Trump. MANY people would hold that against the applicant, and laws against that wouldn’t help, as people would not admit that was the reason. For not giving someone a job.

This invasion of privacy by Google is exactly why my new Android smartphone is turned off and sitting in a drawer — forever. Sadly, I learned after the 14-day return period that you must create a Google account for full functionality. Not gonna happen. I’ve been shopping for a flip phone or a BlackBerry — while paying a ridiculous amount monthly for something I can’t use.

This person has obviously never spent a minute trying to glean any useful data about a prospective employee using Google. It's easier said than done.

I landed on one web page years ago, and it was so bad I notified the FBI about it.

Sell the phone on Ebay and keep the contract, using a non-Android phone.
Apple iPhones can be had for less if getting the last generation. I have an iPhone 6+, and it’s still great.

I switched to duckduckgo.com this weekend over the whole easter thing. That was the last straw for me with google.

You want to sell saying it is a “Clean ESN.” This means it is not restricted by contract. You will have to buy out any remaining phone company interest, if you haven't completely paid for the device, yet.
