Why does ANYBODY want a king or a queen? Seems like just throwing money at folks to live a life of luxury.

About 50% of the US population wanted Obama to be King and "live a life of luxury" and also wanted Hillary to be Queen and "live a life of luxury".

(or do I have those roles reversed?)

“How do you know he’s the king?”

“He’s the only one who doesn’t have s___ on him.”

“Why does ANYBODY want a king or a queen?”

Because by any objective analysis countries today led by monarchies are the most stable, tolerant, decent, corruption-free, liberal (in the proper sense of the word), democratic nations on earth.

By a long chalk.

Let’s leave the US out of it and examine the rest of the world, contrasting monarchies against similar countries that are republics.

Which countries are better run today and have had better histories of government?

Canada or Russia?
The UK or France?
Norway or Latvia?
Sweden or Belarus?
Denmark or Poland?
Holland or Lithuania?
Australia or Argentina?
New Zealand or Chile?
Japan or China?
Thailand or Vietnam?
Spain or Greece?
Jordan or Iraq?
Bahamas or Cuba?
Jamaica or Haiti?

Ok you can accuse me of selective picking, and I wouldn’t entirely disagree but nonetheless you have to say that outside the United States, countries that are still monarchies today seem to have a better track record than People’s Republics, Democratic Republics or People’s Democratic Republics.
