Glenn Beck, and his conservative network, TheBlaze, have filed a counterclaim against firebrand news personality Tomi Lahren after she sued the organization for wrongful termination. In her lawsuit, Lahren claimed she was terminated because of her public pro-choice stance. Beck came back swinging in a 35-page counterclaim obtained by LawNewz.com and filed in Texas court on Monday. The countersuit states that Lahren was never fired from the network. Instead, the company says the network decided to bench her from air after a slew of bad behavior including Lahrens mistreating of staff, and making public appearances without prior approval. In addition, Beck claims it is Lahren who is violating the terms of her employment contract with the network.
The lawsuit states that Lahrens treatment of the floor crew during her shows was inappropriate and unprofessional and that she constantly complained about lighting, room temperature, editing, shooting and directing. The complaint also alleges that her word choice on air had to be addressed on a consistent basis because she border lined on profane. Lahren turned down a number of advertisers on TheBlaze for unexplained reasons, limiting any chance for TheBlaze to recoup its investment into her and her show, the paperwork states.
On April 7th, Lahren sued Beck claiming she was fired after making controversial remarks on The View when she told the hosts that, I cant sit here and be a hypocrite and say Im for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies.
Lahren alleges that HR told her to stay away from her Facebook, social media, and she was prohibited from making public comment. She also claims that fellow employees placed an X with yellow caution tape on her office/dressing room door.
In his response, Beck states that she was not fired from the network, and, in fact, she is still an employee who continues to receive benefits and compensation with full access to her social media platforms and company email.
Instead, the counterclaim contends, the company opted to exercise a standard pay or play clause which allows them to keep Lahren off air, and continue to pay her. The company claims this decision was made after a culmination of bad behavior by the conservative star.
As for her controversial remarks on The View, the court paperwork states that The Blaze does not take issue with Lahrens comments simply because they expressed a pro-choice view. But, rather, the complaint states, [d]uring her appearance, she made a statement that not only diverged dramatically from her previous public positions but also effectively called many of TheBlazes employees, viewers, and readers hypocrites. The complaint alleges this offended The Blazes audience.
The network also objected to what they call Lahrens unauthorized appearance on Nightline in which she blasted The Blaze.
All of these statements violated Lahrens obligations in the Employment Agreement. Thus, Lahren not only breached her Employment Agreement, she repeatedly misstated facts in order to increase coverage of her lawsuit, Becks claim states.
The Blaze is seeking an order from a judge which would prohibit any public appearances without the Blazes approval (as per her contract), and prevent her from making disparaging or negative statements against Glenn Beck and The Blaze. The complaint also alleges that Lahrens lawsuit is in violation of an arbitration clause which was part of Lahrens original employment contract.
We are reaching out to attorneys for Lahren for comment, and will update accordingly.
Cat fight!
Between this and Alex
Jones’ custody battles, the Texas courts are going to be busy
This is hilarious!
So can I sue Beck for offending me countless times with his endless douchebaggery?
It’s just mind boggling how much of a total fruitcake this guy is.
How could you offend the Blaze audience? Withdraw their meds?
His complaint about her treatment of the crew is a little peculiar (as is everything Beck)... if it were true, he should have fired her before she made her public pro-choice comments. It’s clear that is the only reason she was fired.
Glen Blech is no longer newsworthy. He is not even fake newsworthy. You may as well post a story about noob freeper stopthethreat. It would be twice as fascinating
LOLed at your comment.
Beck and his laughing boy buds that try to make the show entertaining need to go away. His 15 minutes is long up.
Maybe he didn’t put on his magic Mormon underwear today.
What happen to Alex Jones?
His two laughing hyenas are more annoying than he is if that is possible.
Except that he’s had openly pro-choice hosts before. One of the first programs on The Blaze was “The Real News” with Amy Holmes, who was openly pro-choice.
So that’s not the reason Tomi was taken off the air.
His former wife had asked for full custody of their children
His lawyer has claimed that Alex is a performance artist and that his show is a persona not what Alex is really like
Beck continues going in a stupid direction.
Tomi Lahren is an abortion advocate and thus not a conservative.
I guess this is now the norm in law suits. Air all the dirty laundry for all the world to see then wait to see how the public reacts; skid marks and all.
Last but not least; sit down at the negotiating table and if that doesn’t work out take it to the courts to decide.
I don’t think I much care for this method of doing laundry...
Yes that’s it in a not shell. The lady is stupid
Just like Glenn to try and peg her as his fall girl. He is disgusting.
Blaze has an audience? Who knew?
I never listened to enough of Glenn BEck’s radio show to discern between which voice was Glenn Beck and which one was Stu or the other guy. When Stu would fill in for Glenn I would hear his voice and think it’s Glenn and then a commercial endorsement for Goldline or Liberty Safes would sound like the same guy (Stu) filling in for Glenn. Not sure why but they all have that “radio voice”
Why does Alex Jones have such a raspy voice? Is he a heavy smoker?
