Glenn Beck, and his conservative network, TheBlaze, have filed a counterclaim against firebrand news personality Tomi Lahren after she sued the organization for wrongful termination. In her lawsuit, Lahren claimed she was terminated because of her public pro-choice stance. Beck came back swinging in a 35-page counterclaim obtained by LawNewz.com and filed in Texas court on Monday. The countersuit states that Lahren was never fired from the network. Instead, the company says the network decided to bench her from air after a slew of bad behavior including Lahrens mistreating of staff, and making public appearances without prior approval. In addition, Beck claims it is Lahren who is violating the terms of her employment contract with the network.
The lawsuit states that Lahrens treatment of the floor crew during her shows was inappropriate and unprofessional and that she constantly complained about lighting, room temperature, editing, shooting and directing. The complaint also alleges that her word choice on air had to be addressed on a consistent basis because she border lined on profane. Lahren turned down a number of advertisers on TheBlaze for unexplained reasons, limiting any chance for TheBlaze to recoup its investment into her and her show, the paperwork states.
On April 7th, Lahren sued Beck claiming she was fired after making controversial remarks on The View when she told the hosts that, I cant sit here and be a hypocrite and say Im for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies.
Lahren alleges that HR told her to stay away from her Facebook, social media, and she was prohibited from making public comment. She also claims that fellow employees placed an X with yellow caution tape on her office/dressing room door.
In his response, Beck states that she was not fired from the network, and, in fact, she is still an employee who continues to receive benefits and compensation with full access to her social media platforms and company email.
Instead, the counterclaim contends, the company opted to exercise a standard pay or play clause which allows them to keep Lahren off air, and continue to pay her. The company claims this decision was made after a culmination of bad behavior by the conservative star.
As for her controversial remarks on The View, the court paperwork states that The Blaze does not take issue with Lahrens comments simply because they expressed a pro-choice view. But, rather, the complaint states, [d]uring her appearance, she made a statement that not only diverged dramatically from her previous public positions but also effectively called many of TheBlazes employees, viewers, and readers hypocrites. The complaint alleges this offended The Blazes audience.
The network also objected to what they call Lahrens unauthorized appearance on Nightline in which she blasted The Blaze.
All of these statements violated Lahrens obligations in the Employment Agreement. Thus, Lahren not only breached her Employment Agreement, she repeatedly misstated facts in order to increase coverage of her lawsuit, Becks claim states.
The Blaze is seeking an order from a judge which would prohibit any public appearances without the Blazes approval (as per her contract), and prevent her from making disparaging or negative statements against Glenn Beck and The Blaze. The complaint also alleges that Lahrens lawsuit is in violation of an arbitration clause which was part of Lahrens original employment contract.
We are reaching out to attorneys for Lahren for comment, and will update accordingly.
Lauren thinks a baby in the womb is like a liver? That is the fruitiness of nuttycakes ever. I am glad she was fired. Even a caveman could look at an ultrasound and see it isn’t a choice.. it’s a distinct life with a beating heart. What she believes is inconsistent with truth.
Now if it was a baby seal...
nothing Libertarian about stopping a baby’s heartbeat.
Not only will you get as dirty as the pig but the pig likes it and will beat you with experience.
Can we just deport them BOTH? Can’t stand either one of these fake conservatives...the drug addict or the part girl slut-turned-”pundit”.
Beck is still on my local radio station. I ask why? Does he still have a following?
I am wondering that too. He is discredited and a known loon
He screams too much
Tomi Lahren, “you’re time is up” (15 minutes)
Carnival theatrics.
“What happen to Alex Jones?”
uh oh, the name that shall not be mentioned and definitely not discussed.
Yes, Lauren is wrong on the subject of abortion. No doubt about it.
It is fairly common for young people to be wrong about this. I know I was.
However, I don’t think that her career should be destroyed over what she said. This is an opportunity to talk with her about it and change her mind.
There was nothing in her contract that said she had to be pro-life, and for her to be told she has the wrong position on something by a hypocrite and charlatan such as Beck is a laugh riot.
Frankly Beck comes off like a stalker on this. Dude is nuts.
Networks regularly dismiss people when they go off the rails. She equates a baby with a liver. She was simply drunk with power on a rant. She thinks she knows all and defies the very company she works for.
That would be like me taking a podium and telling people that although my hospital wants to save their lives... I think we should let some of them die, I would be fired if I published that, let alone spoke it from the boardroom of my hospital.
It would violate a condition of my employer contract which doesn’t state that I cannot break my bosses nose and keep my job. It doesn’t say that anywhere, but maybe you should try it with your boss.
There was no condition of her employment that required her to be pro-life.
Furthermore, it appears that Beck hasn’t fired her, but rather is holding her in limbo for some odd reason.
If he is displeased with her performance as an employee then fire her.
His behavior in this, much like his behavior in everything else, is bizarre.
Like I said, he comes off as a stalker, at least to me. Strange guy.
I think she has grounds to sue him.
There is no condition of my employment that states I cannot break my bosses nose. Maybe your company does, but what about breaking their finger. Willful behavior in defiance of my company would mean I get fired. Rightfully so. Beck is right on this one, miss I think babies are a choice like livers can go be mentally unhinged elsewhere.. lotsa media like that, maybe the view or espn has a Barbie opening.
This is not 1940... we can clearly see rhe difference between a liver and a baby in the womb. Stopping a heartbeat by claiming it’s a choice over your body parts when sciences says clearly No. .. well if I had heard her say that in my church at the bully pulpit I would’ve been appalled and walked out, never to return... Honestly I am appalled when I hear that anywhere.
She was hired to give her opinion on political matters.
Furthermore, I’m not aware that The Blaze is a big pro-life organization, nor am I aware that The Blaze is particularly conservative or even conservative at all.
The owner is all over the map all the time and is a complete flake.
And it is perfectly fine for you to be offended by what she said and to avoid her like the plague for the rest of time.
But is it perfectly fine for Beck to treat her as he is?
Dunno, but we are going to find out.
So you think he should hve just ignored Tomi’s actions?
I know of very few “pro-choice” conservatives.
His “fall girl” for what?
