My guess? He retires early, and in 6 or 8 months he just can no longer watch from the sidelines (supposedly) and throws his hat in the ring to replace Orin Hatch.

Read Sundance's take on it over @ CTH. I think a poster noted, Hatch is going to stay he is a known quantity. Let's say he dies in office, they can then pick someone of substance etc for the special election ( yes that sounds very Deep State, I know...). Where as now McMuffin could run and you have a Franken if you will in the Senate. Chaffetz screwed the pooch twice, he back stabbed the Tea Party by hoping to get Hatch's seat, and then his Anti-Trump rant burnt that bridge. He is toast, my guess they now have something on him to get him out of their.

What if he is one of the leaker(s)?
