Were looking at a possible government shutdown next Saturday, and thats got some conservatives nervousWould like to know what actual conservatives may be nervous about that. So far, the only ones that get nervous are big-government RINOs, and conservatives welcome shutdowns.
Unlike the Clinton/Gingrich shutdown battle, the control over what sectors of the government get their money is in the hands of a Republican president, not a Democrat who held up funds on the most visible and sympathetic programs. Trump would relish starving all the non-essential offices like PBS and NPR or global-warming science grants.>>> i have made this point on other posts. Trump will keep open the most customer facing stuff and pocket the money on all the other crap no one cares about except those in dc this will be fun. press will not know how to report this. mass confusion dogs dating cats, etc.
GRRRREAT article. HOORAY Larry.
DRAIN the $wamp. STARVE the $wamp creatures. DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic.
Socialism Is Legal Plunder - “The Law”; Frederic Bastiat
MAGA
Trump is showing them what having a spine looks like.
Interesting take on the possibility of a shutdown. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but the author makes sense. Trump would seize the shutdown as an opportunity to cut more crap.
Good post.
The democrats still don’t get why they lost the election.
It’s awesome watching Trump lead them straight into a trap. They really have no clue.
Unlike the Obama shutdown, there will not be guards at the National Monuments scaring people away.
That alone is worth the price.
Knowing what is right and Doing what is right is always difficult for Congress. Personally, I believe similarly as Samuel Clemons regarding Congress. Let it be said Mr Ron White maybe the American People sometimes can fix stupid. One of the best lines ever Mr. White. My belief is the American People took your “you can’t fix stupid” as a personal challenge and decided to do as Americans have always done. Thanks Mr.White. You are more than a comedian.
The real fun begins when every EBT/SNAP card shows “no funds available” apon scanning.
Very interesting piece, LS. Seems to make sense. I do hope you’re correct.
Congress is probably too haughty to realize what you’re saying, and will let the foot drop. :)
Works for me.
And THIS time, don’t pay the furloughed workers for days that they didn’t work. . .
The writer can be a jerk here, but that is a very good article.
LS - Thanks for writing “..reinforces the perception of Trump as a businessman who cuts the fat, extracts more efficiency, and makes the U.S. government more like a business.”
Coming from this perspective, showing Trump not as a career politician but a businessman, he could come out smelling like a rose in this situation. I hope the various talking heads are on this already, and are ready to use it if necessary.
It is about time to let the government shut down. Until we do nothing is going to be done to fix the mess that has be plaguing the nation for decades. Most presidents who refused to fix the mess know exactly how to play congress. They in effect hold the elderly and the children as hostages until congress caves into their demands. Nobody wants to grandma, grandpa or junior suffer. Never once to they attempt to cut out the ridiculous amount of funds that only benefit the select few. Lets overhaul spending for foreign aid, welfare, funding for illegals, and special interest.
Well done, Larry!
We win either way—now I can’t wait for what happens.
Thanks for centering us once again.
This won’t be business as usual in DC, even with that snake Ryan trying to torpedo President Trump.
Pass the popcorn.
It would send a Yuge message to Congress he is not playing the swamp game anymore. Let the media cry wolf all they want. His voters would love him even more.
... with out of control spending,...
.
Excellent article, LS.
Bring on the shutdown.
