Outdoor-clothing maker Patagonia hit back at President Trump on Wednesday, threatening to sue over an executive order calling for the Department of the Interior to review national monuments designated during Bill Clinton's, George W. Bush's and Barack Obama's presidencies.
“A president does not have the authority to rescind a National Monument. An attempt to change the boundaries ignores the review process of cultural and historical characteristics and the public input,” Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario said in a statement.

Western lands activists are urging Donald Trump to test the limits of executive power by revoking millions of acres that President Obama set aside as national monuments, setting up a landmark legal battle over one of the nation’s most frequently used environmental protections.
Such a step would be historic. No president has undesignated a national monument created by his predecessor, and it’s unclear whether he has the authority to do so.
But Obama administration critics say now is the time to try to establish a precedent. They say Mr. Obama has wildly abused presidential power in using the 1906 Antiquities Act to cordon off huge swaths of land and sea — mostly along the West and East coasts — to prevent energy exploration. In total, he has earmarked at least 553 million acres of land and water as national monuments, far more than any other president.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes will sue President Barack Obama for designating over 1.6 million acres as national monument land, he said Wednesday, according to The Hill.
Obama designated land in Utah and Nevada, including the Bears Ears area in southeastern Utah, as national monuments, which would protect two areas that are rich in Native American artifacts from mining, oil and gas drilling.

Apparently the plaintiff need only be offended by the act.
A president does not have the authority to rescind a National Monument? But he has the authority to create a National Monument?
Most of the recent “National Monuments” are losers and not self sustaining. Most were created as a land grab and were set aside for use by the “elite”. Most drain resources away from the “popular” and well used National Parks and Monuments.

would be nice if several other states joined in lawsuits to lend support to utah by bringing their own cases before the courts- flood the courts with cases of several states where an exorbitant amount of land was taken for no purpose-
But alas- a State like NC could have used a great deal of support by other conservative states back when the bathroom crap was hitting the fan- but no states did so- they let NC fight it by themselves- and NC eventually caved-

IIRC, Patagonia was once in the primary business of making and selling climbing equipment, like chocks and stuff.
They were sued because folks fell to their deaths while using their equipment.
Now they just sell clothing.
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.
