The sedative midazolam is supposed to prevent condemned prisoners from suffering while they die, but opponents say several problematic executions involving the drug are evidence that it does not work consistently. They raised new concerns after an execution Thursday in Arkansas left the prisoner convulsing and pressing against his restraints.

The default mode of execution should be whatever method the executee used on his victim. If that was very painful, we might allow him to request a different form of execution, at the discretion of the judge and with the concurrence of the victim’s family.
What’s with all this angst about lethal injections?
If there’s a problem, bring back firing squads. Or other methods which are quick and to the point.
The gasping that enrages me is the gasping that the killer's victim experienced in the minutes (hours?) it took for him/her to die.

I completely agree with this. I can't imagine a better deterrent, unless it's an even more painful and grisly method. A swim in a piranha tank, for example, or an acid bath.

The libs passed laws stating that this was the only allowable method of execution. Anything else is too inhumane and violent for these despicable murderers, whom liberals adopt as their pets. What they want is no executions at all and a return of roulette wheel justice where violent criminals are released into the population to maim and murder at will, like in late 1970’s California.

Liberals amuse me. They are against executions but for euthanasia. So for a win win situation we let the condemned choose how they want to die.
The Constitution says it can’t be cruel and unusual. Doesn’t proscribe painless and suffering-free.
Get a rope! Get a firing squad! Chop their heads off!
There wouldn’t be any of that with firing squads or hangings.
