Does this mean that Jug-Ears will stand in for him?

Actually 96, if it’s in Autumn.

I really don’t see why this called for an emergency meeting.

Actually, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex is the Duke’s designated successor to take over his roles and has been gradually doing so - the Prince of Wales already has a heavy workload that could not easily be added to.

Calling it an emergency meeting looks like a media overreaction.

He should work in IT in a major market. There, there is no workload that won't be added to.

Prince Philip brought a much-needed dose of humanity to the royal family. I recall his sage advice when asked how does one become a successful Prince, "always wear comfortable shoes and never pass up an opportunity to relieve yourself."

An overreaction...possibly. Or the news about Philip was a cover for the real reason behind the scramble. FWIW, that’s my bet.

Quite a slacker if you ask me. Retiring at 96. Who does he think he is? Lol.

Indeed. Back in the 1980s, he was Colonel-in-Chief of the RAF Regiment that was hosting my old B-52 squadron on a deployment to Britain. While we were there, they had a Dining-out, and as guests of the Regiment, we were invited.

Delightful gentleman, told great dirty jokes, and introduced many of us to the joys of really good single-malt Scots Whisky. . .

Saw on some tabloid front page at the checkout line that the queen is very ill, and about to abdicate in favor of William, not Charles. Better for the royal family brand, probably, since Charles has shown himself to be quite the wacko...

We’ll see if that happens, after all, it was in a tabloid, not the NYT - LOL!
