Indeed. Insurance is a form of gambling that was only ever proper, even suited, for a financial tool.

It is a very bad tool to pay for services as a matter of preference and habit.

What got us where we are is people abusing insurance as if it were assurance, and people wanting to place their bets after the proverbial horse has stumbled is way beyond doubling down on stupid.

Obamacare was the single largest gift to the insurers since they let them be free from interstate commerce, it could only make things worse.

People thinking that their known pre existing conditions should be somehow paid for by “insurance” are basically demanding for a gift upfront, one paid for at other people’s expense, not gambling that something unknown that is bad may happen at some point and their wager pay off.
