This is a real problem for people and in many cases, they can’t work to pay for insurance themselves. So, what happens to these people? I feel like there really needs to be some sort of program for the people who can’t get insurance or work to afford their much higher premiums.

I agree with you and good post.

A buddy of mine waiting 9 months to save up for a hernia operation, paid cash. He could not find insurance that would cover that condition. Much less serious than the situation you experience.

I was beginning to believe I was the only one who did that. Most difficult part... getting a price from a provider.

Too bad we can’t go back to simpler times when health insurance really was insurance - providing coverage only for major items like hospitalizations that people could not afford to pay for themselves. All other expenses were paid out-of-pocket directly to the provider.
