Trump Says ‘No’ To A Global Cap-And-Trade Plan
dailycaller.com ^ | 05/05/2017

The Trump administration said it would not be considering using an international cap-and-trade program to meet former President Barack Obama’s pledge to cut greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Paris agreement on climate change.

The Department of State gave generic, boilerplate responses to questions countries posed regarding aspects of America’s commitment under the Paris agreement.

At one point, China asked the Trump administration if it would consider an “international market mechanism” in place of Obama-era policies to cut emissions. The Trump administration said, “No.”

“Does the U.S. have any plan or preliminary thoughts on using international market mechanism to accommodate recent changes?” China asked in questions submitted through the U.N.

“If still not, what additional measure will the U.S. consider to take to achieve the 2020 target?” China asked.

“On the first question, no,” the Trump administration responded.

China joined the EU and others in pressing the Trump administration on how it plans to cut emissions and fight global warming while also rolling back policies the Obama administration put in place.

“On the second question, the Administration is reviewing existing policies and regulations in the context of a focus on strengthening U.S. economic growth and promoting jobs for American workers, and will not support policies or regulations that have adverse effects on energy independence and U.S. competitiveness,” was the administration’s answer to most questions.

Still winning. But I’m sure the “Trump is selling us out”
club will find something to whine about.

Well thank goodness for big favors.

Cap and Trade is a scam in every instance.

Even if CO2 was a valid threat cap and trade is no solution. First and always a scam.

“international market mechanism”

Cap & trade may be a “market mechanism”; but, it is by no means a “free market mechanism”. Governments completely control the supply side (permits to emit carbon dioxide).

No kidding! I never cease to be amazed at the attitudes of some here. 1. We didn’t get Hillary. 2. We didn’t get any of the other “so-called GOP candidates who would have been “Hillary lite!” And yet every time the president farts in the wrong direction, the “I told you so chorus” here pipes up. I actually like the fact that on occasion, Trump makes a mistake or a blunder, because it means he’s not a “scripted do nothing” like LIttle Yebbie would have been. It’s refreshing to see a president “try something new,” and finding out sometimes he’s right and sometimes he’s wrong. It is exactly what you would expect from someone who HAS NOT spent his life in Washington. His Presidency has gone in so many directions in so short a time that I marvel at the high degree of success he’s having. I mean absolutely every way he turns, there’s yet another problem to solve, and then you add to all of the domestic problems and issues this really serious problem with North Korea, and we need to give this man our support and some running room without all the armchair backbiting.

Given his stances, I would have been really shocked if he embraced Cap and Trade.

Great response from the administration.

Showing that they have big intentions of putting Americans first and Obama's agreement in the shredder.

I love the T-Rex State Dept.!

Texan Rex has an authoritative voice and doesn’t seem to suffer fools or pander to others like Clinton and Kerry.

Trump needs to burn the Paris treaty on the White House lawn in front of the press corps.

Then I will believe he means it. :-)

So Trump is pulling us out of Paris without officially pulling us out?

WINNING! . . . of a sort.

Very good posting.

Anyone who has been in a mid or upper level Mgt. position has made judgement errors and then had to recover. I’m sure Pres. Trump has decades of experience in doing so, having hundreds of companies around the world. ....That experience is serving him well.

will Californians have the sense to say no to this one...which would rise “in perpetuity”!? slick nor sleak:

3 May: Vox: David Roberts: California is about to revolutionize climate policy … again
The state’s cap-and-trade program would be replaced by a new, sleeker one....

3) Prices start low and rise, predictably, in perpetuity.
In 2020, the price floor begins at $20, just a little higher than the price floor of the system it replaces. The price ceiling begins at $30. Both rise in predictable increments, though at different rates.
The price ceiling rises at $10 per year, plus inflation…
