Parents have gotten lazy since the 70s. It’s long past time parents re-inact PTOs, volunteer in their kids’ schools, go to school board meetings and voice their opinions, run for school board and become that squeaky wheel in the principal’s office. It doesn’t take but a few minutes to make a couple of well placed phone calls when the administration steps out of line.

I have seen how these school boards operate.
The dad probably had to sit and listen to all kind of school board b.s., and was only given 2 minutes to say what he came to say? I’ll bet others get way more than 2 minutes. They should have let the dad speak; he made a lot of really good points and was informed and respectful.
Good thing I wasn't sitting next to him.
We pulled our eldest child out of public school after one semester of kindergarten. It only took that long for us to see what direction his schooling would go.
We began home schooling and never looked back. Our other three kids never stepped foot on a public school campus. The eldest three are all graduated now. Yeah, it was tough, but it was totally worth it.

You have pointed out a truth that people of all political stripes fail to acknowledge. There are ideologies whose goal is world conquest through violence and war. Nazism, Communism and Islam come to mind. The carnage created by these ideologies is mind-boggling.
To believe that there can be peaceful co-existence with Islam demonstrates gross ignorance and blindness to the 1400 year history of Islam's war against the "infidel".
