Excited CBS: Yates Will Deliver ‘Explosive’ ‘Bombshell’ on Trump

All three networks on Monday excitedly promoted the anti-Donald Trump potential of the testimony of a woman the President fired. CBS This Morning predicted that former acting Attorney General Sally Yates would deliver “explosive” “bombshells” about possible connections to Russia. Reporters on NBC’s Today reassured viewers that the Democrat was totally reliable. ABC's Good Morning America included a clip of liberal Senator Dianne Feinstein to make that point.

A network graphic on CBS screamed, “Bombshell Testimony? Fmr. Acting AG Yates to Testify on Flynn & Russia.” Co-host Charlie Rose opened the show by trumpeting, “Testimony on Capitol Hill today could reveal explosive details about the alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.”

Excited CBS: Yates Will Deliver ‘Explosive’ ‘Bombshell’ on Trump

Reporter Jeff Pegues insisted, “Sally Yates's testimony is expected to include at least a few bombshells.”

Again, this was before the testimony. It was a "preemptive" bombshell?

Over on NBC’s Today, Peter Alexander cited Democrats to dismiss partisan concerns about Yates: “While one Republican official familiar with the White House's thinking tells NBC News the administration will argue Yates is politicizing the issue, Democrats argue the former deputy Attorney General is a veteran prosecutor with an impeccable reputation.”

He then included a clip of liberal Senator Feinstein: “She is very widely respected and she apparently has some information as to who knew what went.”

Later, co-host Savannah Guthrie went to NBC analyst Jeremy Bash, who worked as a senor advisor to Leon Panetta, to make the same point:

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: What about the White House's response? They say look, this is a person who is politicized. She's a Democrat. She was let go by the president in connection with her refusal to enforce the travel ban and she's gotten a ax to grind?

JEREMY BASH: I don't think that's the case at all. She's very credible. She is a career federal prosecutor, came into the Justice Department, spent her entire career as a public servant. She was doing her job when she told the White House counsel, http://www.newsbusters.org/s3/files/styles/blog_body-50/s3/images/2017-05-08-cbs-tm-yates.jpg?itok=kOjalgWf"Hey, look, we have a situation on our hands that needs to be addressed." And instead they kept him in position for 17 days.

On ABC’s Good Morning America, reporter Pierre Thomas cited the same clip of Fienstein.

A transcript of the CBS segment is below:

CBS This Morning 5/8/17 7:03AM ET

CBS GRAPHIC: Bombshell Testimony? Fmr. Acting AG Yates to Testify on Flynn & Russia

CHARLIE ROSE: Welcome to CBS This Morning. Testimony on Capitol Hill today could reveal explosive details about the alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates will appear before a Senate Committee.

NORAH O’DONNELL: Sally Yates was an Obama administration holdover and a key figure in the Russia investigation. She was fired soon after warning the White House about then-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's conversations with Russian officials. Jeff Pegues is outside the hearing room on Capitol Hill. Jeff, good morning. What will we hear?

JEFF PEGUES: Well, good morning. Sally Yates's testimony is expected to include at least a few bombshells. And that's why you have some members of Congress pushing for her to appear. And she will later on today. The former acting Attorney General is expected to contradict public White House official statements about this issue. Multiple congressional and law enforcement sources say Yates notified the White House that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was not forthcoming with the Vice President about his contacts with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

According to sources, she also warned the White House that Flynn was compromised. The President later fired Flynn but not immediately and some members of Congress wanted to know what took the White House so long to respond to concerns. Keep in mind, Flynn as the former National Security Adviser, was handling the most secure security information. And Yates will not be the only big name testifying in the hearing room behind me on this afternoon. Also appearing will be James Clapper, the former Director of National Intelligence, who before his retirement in mid-January, was briefed on the most important details connected to this Russian investigation. Gayle?

I have never in my life seen a media working SO hard to destroy a Presidency...

I remember the Nixon/Watergate years.
I was in High School at the time, and I admit that the Media had me conned. I had no idea that the Media was (and is) made up entirely of anti-American communist liars. It took me years to figure out that I had swallowed a line of crap. Yeah, they pulled quite a 'nice' coup d'etat based on what was basically a jaywalking infraction.

So yes, I can remember once in my life when the Media worked so hard to destroy a Presidency. Fortunately, today there is an alternative Media available and our Communist Media does not have a monopoly in presenting their side of the story.

It’s really amazing to think about how much money these people are paid to stand in front of a camera everyday & read buzz words off the DNC’s daily talking points broadcast memo.

I probably would have passed on my Post #42 had I read Pfflier's Post #11.
Years later, and it still ticks me off (being conned by our Fifth Column Media).

Democrat Senate members along with their media friends and Mrs Yates were obviously prepared to make an issue of the 18 days delay between the notification of Gen. Flynn’s problems and his firing by the president. As out of character as it may seem, I believe it was Sen. Graham’s opening focus on the unmasking of the General’s identity that threw them off their game. It is not just the leaking to the press that is a potential problem, there is also a problem with the information being shared with other government officials. There is also a possible “unreasonable search” problem with any information gained through this surveillance being used against the General. Mrs Yates is a good lawyer and probably had second thoughts about her exposure.

She tried to recover by emphasizing the White House Counsel’s question about what basis the Justice Department had to be concerned about one White House employee lying to another. While there is a real irony of Senators being concerned about employees lying to one another, there is no law against it. The real wild card in this matter is the FBI and no one, on any side, can go too far out on a limb until they know for sure what the FBI knows and what they are going to do with that information. Attorney General Lynch can no longer provide protection.

I mentioned in another FR post that I thought Sally Yates, and DIFI of CA. sounded liked they had a ‘rehearsal’ of this before today...

Yates was just too prepared for DIFI questions, she had her answers all ready to read off a sheet of lies...so it was a set up in my opinion.

then when it came time for the Minnesota Clown to question Sally, they together laughed and joked like this was an entertainment show of sorts. really pissed me off...
and where were the Republicans, who are in charge of the questioning? Sir Lindy Graham, sitting on his butt, watching the show...
What a bunch of asses we have in Congress..

now reading this article, I feel I'm more right than wrong..

The thing they don’t understand is they will drive many further towards Trump.

Here’s the deal. Donald is an international businessman. He’s done business in Russia, as has Ivanka and other Trump family members.

Shock and Awe? No, but they’ll play it up because they have no business sense and neither does the majority of Americans. The presstitutes couldn’t successfully run a three-stall pay toilet in a men’s room in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. But they’ll screech corruption because the Trumps can. .

This may be a way to try to prevent charges/indictments toward Obama/Clinton (and staff) so that it will look like revenge if there are charges/indictments made.

How? You have dems in control of the FBI keeping the dems safe and above the law. You have republican congressmen and senators controlled by the dems through being compromised. So how does Trump unleash holy hell on anything?

Its nice to see the reinforcement. It was political retribution via media assassination. Many were suckered, few recognize that, even now.

If you just go by the revisionist history textbooks and liberal media mantra, Nixon was responsible for all evil in the world since the beginning of time.

That is until Trump came along.

They are all frothing at the mouth, but CNN is in a class by itself. This Lemon fag looks like hes gonna cry at any minute. Imagine if someone hacked into CNN...bet you’d see some real collusion in those e mails.

Exactly Haircutter, it’s like the “Republicans” (whatever that means anymore) are afraid that Trump may cut into their extortion racket too......even the budget bill seems EXACTLY the same as it would have been if Hillary got elected

It was like that with Nixon too. The media coverage was single sided and his opposition got all the favorable press. Frank Church, Sam Ervin, Scoop Jackson, the special prosecutor Jaworski were lionized. Woodward and Bernstein were deified.
