Jimmy Kimmel returned to his late-night show after a week-long absence Monday, where he used his monologue to update his audience on the health of his newborn son and confront those who criticized his widely-watched monologue on the subject during a broadcast last week.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host unloaded on Republican lawmakers in his first monologue back Monday, and called on Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La) to explain why “the vast majority of Republican politicians” are against Americans having health care coverage.
But before that, Kimmel addressed the reaction he received after he made an emotional plea last week for health care coverage for pre-existing conditions, and revealed his newborn son was born with a congenital heart defect and needed open-heart surgery. The late-night host acknowledged one Washington Times headline that read: “Shut up, Jimmy Kimmel, you elitist creep.”
“I cannot count the number of times I’ve been called an ‘out of touch Hollywood elitist creep’ this week,” Kimmel said. “Which, I have to say, I kind of appreciate because when I was a kid we had to drink powdered milk because we couldn’t afford the liquid … My dream was to become an out of touch Hollywood elitist, and I guess it came true.”
“I would like to apologize for saying that children in America should have health care,” he went on, sarcastically. “It was insensitive. It was offensive, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”
Next, Kimmel took aim at Newt Gingrich, who criticized the host’s monologue last week when he said that all hospitals in the United States help children before asking for payment.

I pay my insurance bill every paycheck (plus my taxes) and cannot afford to go to the doctor nor do I see any co-pay (deductibles are too high) and all of this while Lord Gawd Obambi was still king emperor (and my rate raised again last year necessitating that I drop my 401k savings plan and my dental coverage).

I say, not sarcastically, that children do deserve healthcare....just not paid for with MY tax $$. Maybe their folks could do something novel....like, get a job? Work two jobs...to afford said health care/insurance? It’s what my generation’s folks did.

Kids need doctors, clothes, education, food, lots of things. If you can’t pay for it, don’t have sex. People used to understand this basic fact. And if they did, and some exceptions still occurred, we could all chip in for charity.

My prayers go out to the Kimmel family. Newborns and toddlers with health issues is a difficult experience. Our family has dealt with it.
But on the public, political, entertainment front, Kimmel is an idiot. Because of Obamare, we’ve been through 3 insurance companies, and not by choice. The first was a chaotic nightmare, the second financially imploded, the third is hanging tough. For each of the 3 insurance companies, I spent about two weeks organizing the insurance transitions. It was aggravating and costly as I was not working during the insanity to generate income.
Thanks to Obama and his Democrat Thug Party, we lost our doctors. We lost our pediatricians. We lost our primary hospital. We lost access to nearby labs. We lost access to nearby 24/7 clinics. The effective cost of health insurance for my family increased by at least 60%. Before Obamacare, I was paying ~$15k/year for comparatively outstanding care. In 2016, I was paying 60% more for so much less. For 2017, I had to scale back to the crappiest plan available because of 28% rate hikes. It’s abusive.
I’ve never been without insurance the entirety of my adult life. I always found a way to pay my insurance dues. I never tried to game the system. And yet me, and others like me, get screwed. And ironically, we’re counted as an Obamacare beneficiary. Why? Because Obama and his Democrat Thug Party terminated our existing insurance contracts forcing us onto their Utopian health insurance disaster.
